Some information about the book - it was written before 9/11, and is written by a non-muslim.

Quite how a non-muslim goes about indocrinating people is beyond me...

weird dual mage bug?

Just dualled fighter into a mage and found there were some scrolls he could not read, even though the other mages in the party could.

Thought perhaps it was treating the dualled mage as a specialist but the scrolls he can't read are not of the same school.

Perhaps second copies will solve this ...

The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann

Looking at it intellecually I can see how this is a great achievement, the way he explores rationality, liberalism, engagement with the world etc... there are hundreds of pages of carefully worked dialogue about the soul of European civilisation

But to read it ...

I have finished ToB with a wild mage.

You're right they don't suck, in fact along with sorcerer they are the most powerful single class. The unpredictable events are quite cool - usually they don't force to reload, and sometimes make you laugh ("take this falling cow oh evil one").

The Dwemenor ...

The main reason for having a ICC is so that extraordinary institutions do not have to be specially created when outrages like Rwanda and Bosnia happen, there will instead be a standing institution to deal with it.

Also it is hoped because it is set up in 'peace time' it will carry more weight and ...

Actually Fidel was never much of a communist, more a vaguely left-wing nationalist.

He was never a member of the communist party until he reached power and while he was organising trade unions in Cuba was fairly anti-communist.

When he first came to power he said (along the lines of) "this will ...

not saying it doesn't have meaning, or that it is not a decision/crisis with rammifications, however it is different from the bald healdine 'Dutch Government resigns'

It is more "Dutch Government resigns" (but not until next month) (when a new Government was due anyway)

To be honest the Dutch and ...

@Gruntboy

you are misreading Clausewitz. His point (war is the continuation of politics by other means) is that war cannot be understood or waged on its own. It is always political - related to the greater struggles and changes in the world around us.

He was arguing against Generals who said (much ...

15 members of the Dutch Government have resigned, not including the Prime Minister.

However there is an election in 1 Month, after which there will be a new cabinet, and the present cabinet will stay in position until then.

Therefore the resignation has no real meaning - it is a symbolic act.

memoirs of a solo cleric/mage (spoilers galore)

warning long post.

I have finally finished soloing my cleric/mage and I thought I would record my impressions.

First of all this is a great fun multi to play however it is not so good in a 6 man party since you take so long to level up.

I chose cleric/mage rather than a gnomish cleric ...
