You dont have to reinstall the game!!!
I experienced the same thing, but instead of being annoyed I just started a new game, and the next time I opened the load page (planing to play my new game) all my old characters were there!

I think you just have to start a new game, play a little, save the ...

The cheese with multi images who shapecange into mindflayer, you wrote they could kill just aboute anyone, I wondered if you cast alot of protection spells on them, maybe they can kill the nasty thief who apperes if you attack one of the important shadowthiefs, I'm not sure that have written this ...

It all happened like this:
I had bought a new motherboard from a freind. I have had a lot of problems with win-mellenium, so I changed it to win 98, but there where a lot of files I would like to keep, so i put them all in folder, went to the old dos, and startet to delete almost every directory ...

I have just formated my harddisc, and deleted BG1 and BG2. now I'm trying to reinstall them! but during the BG2 installation, the computer askes you to insert the next disc... 1, 2, 3 and 4! The number of discs I have!!!! but then It askes me to insert disc 5..... but I don't have a disc 5! I have ...

I have always supported the big sword fight's, so the first time I saw him, I attacked him straight on. Me, badass evil dwarf, badassed kagain aswell, viconia, shar-teel, edwin and safana!

Kagain, Shar-teel and my self charged him, so wee set of the traps...... so viconia summoned some skeletons ...

I e-mailed bioware, and they said it was a rare problem.... but there were some files in windows I had to change, don't know what I did (I ain't the big computer-nerd) but it worked.... i'm playing again!!!


Thanx for the help....... I just culdn't stay at my parents without playing a little ...

You also have to use the right kind of weapon! since you are a fighter thief, you have to know that you can't use blunt weapons for backstab, I also think that goes for two handed weapons!

I just got the idee that I would try too covert some of the charecter sounds and music from BG 2 and a few from BG 1 into playable wave files for for windows....... like when you turn on the computer an angry Korgan starts yelling and so on!!!

At the moment I'm playing with both Jahiera and Viconia.... and I'v got the multi-romance script :D :D :D And I think it is very funny to she those two fighting over me.... some quite interresting conversations they have :D As I'm playing with an lawful evil dueled F/C it is obvius that I'm going ...

I think two weapon style is the most effective combination, cause to the higher damege..... of course it is a little more difficult as you get hit more often.... but in the real toff fights you can always shift to a shield. A little more fun combination could be a swashbuckler with two katanas ...

I'm playing with an evil party at the moment, and I'm planning to kill her...... BUT will the gates out of the underworld be openned if you kill her? I know that she is the one who opens the doors.... How will the doors open if she is dead
