Security Training (possible spoiler)

My security skill is currently 25. I was wondering why I do not even get the option of the training dialogue with Samuel Bantien and Malintus Ancrus. I bribed the latter up to a disposition of 90 but still no joy. Do you have to be a member of the thieves guild?

Nvidia Soundstorm

I recently upgraded my motherboard from an Epox 8RDA+ to an Abit NF7S. Both have Nvidia Soundstorm onboard audio.

On upgrading I reinstalled Windows XP from scratch and I'm using Nvidia's latest integrated drivers and a set of Logitech X230 speakers and subwoofer.

The onboard sound worked ...

Help, please! I can't find Khalim's eye. I know it is supposed to be in the spider cavern but I have been through that place twice and I cannot find it. I presume that what is referred to in the quest log as the "spider cavern" is in fact the arachnid lair in the spider forest? Am I missing ...

Ancient Kaa the Soulless. Maybe I should have remembered the name after he had nearly broken his foot off kicking my butt several times. Duriel was a weenie compared to him.

I was a bit gutted to lose the Horadric Staff, it was great for scything through crowds of burning dead to get to the ...

In Act 2 my Paladin has one item from each of three different sets.

Has anyone done much gambling to get good loot. I lucked out and got a really nifty pair of boots on my first gamble. Since then I haven't done so well, I have gambled away hundreds of thousands on nothing. Even if you get ...

@ C Elegans: Thanks for your help, It was getting somewhat frustrating wandering through the wilderness looking for something that wasn't actually there.

I am progressing through the lower level of the Palace now and finding new and interesting things to bludgeon to death. I found a mace which has ...

I thought I would add my own newbie questions to this thread.

The first is where the **** is the Arcane Sanctuary? I presume I am missing something extremely obvious but I now have the Horadric Staff and nowhere to go.

Does anyone play with a merc? I got so very tired of paying to resurect Amplisa ...

Vrek is a troll, you need fire or acid to finish him off.

As for your character not having performed an action between pause and unpause, I think it depends on when in a round/turn you initiate the action.

Hope this helps.

@ Kameleon

I'm sorry, I can't help you there. I've never tried using a network card on this board, not even the onboard one. The only thing I have plugged into it is a Hayes Accura ISDN card which works with no problems at all.

I too would be tempted to ditch the flat panel monitor. If you're playing high end games you need a really good one.

Again for high end games, I reckon you have to go for the Mesh system offering the 9700 pro. I just bought one and it absolutely rocks! Stunning performance out of the box and they ...

The early Cat 3 drivers were withdrawn because they were more full of holes than a Swiss cheese. There are new ones available now which seem to work fine. I would suggest downloading those.

Further to my previous post, I would suggest dropping the 2800. If you buy a 2600 you will get only a very very slight performance reduction, but a fair old cash saving. The difference would probably fund a Radeon 9700 pro. You can even buy a 2400 and unlock it to run on a 166 bus, most of them will ...

For future proofing get yourself the Radeon card. It is the only one which is hardware DX9 compliant, although, as pointed out, no games currently use this. But, Doom 3 anyone?

ATI's new Catalyst version 3 drivers are excellent. Shame about the version 3 betas which were dire.

Personally I would ...
