I actually got Sky UI yesterday but couldn't get SKSE to work. I evidently can't follow directions but it appears the read me is different from the install info on the website. Anyway, couldn't get the game to load anymore so I reset it to my initial vanilla .exe.

I've been gone with some real life issues and also playing a few other games. Decided to get back to Skyrim today.

1. Just wondering what's new in the last couple of months with the game.
2. Any new mods come out that are "must have"?

You can change as you go also. Even in mid combat you can go up to Expert or down to Novice.

Through Steam I believe it does. In fact, I just got a pop up that "Steam has finished downloading Skyrim". I haven't even opened Steam it's just open on my tool bar.

There is scaling to a point. You will notice as you begin to find for example Glass gear in your dungeons that some bandit leaders will be outfitted in Glass gear instead of leather. Whereas is you ran into the earlier in the game, both you and them would be in leather gear.

As Cren said from what I've read is that enchanting is a must for a destruction mage. The goal is to get your gear enchanted to have 100% mana reduction for destruction spells. .

I think Cren is right. The skills training is based on how high your level is in that skill.

If PC try saving and reloading the game. Sometimes that fixes a glitch. You may have to go back to the prior save which shouldn't be that far before you placed the key.

There were some issues with the 1.2 patch for some people. With 1.3 out it appears to have been fixed (hopefully).

I find 2-3 days to get resupplied.

However, there are mods to beef up the gold inventory for merchants if it's an issue for you.

Over at the Skyrim forums it is well documented that destruction based spells do not level well at higher levels. The other schools seem to be ok, again per mages posting at Skyrim's main forums.
