Why bother with NPC's at all?

Seems like a waste of XP and money/items to have them. I'm just going through with 4 members of my own and ignoring them. Is there anything necessary about having them? Do you miss things if you don't?

She's not sneaking as I've played with that mode. She is running. All three other characters move at the same rate (dwarf, dwarf, human). Only the elf moves slower. She gets far enough behind that I end up having to wait for her at times before hitting the next move point or she'll end up going some ...

Just running around. I've only been in 2 combats and didn't pay attention to that at the time. The bad pathing of the characters makes having a slow member a pain when moving around the maps.

Elf moves slower than dwarf?

I just started this game and noticed from the very start that my elf rogue moves slower than my dwarf wizard. This is a bit of a pain and I can't figure out why. Speed of both is listed correctly and neither are encumbered. Another bug? I am only using the offical patch #2 from Atari.

Your points are all quite valid. I admit that as I'm playing the game I do find myself not using melee weapons (or if I do I have a great staff) and using my crossbow a good percentage of the time. I do find the extra DEX to be good but admit that more hits are very beneficial as well. Since my ...

It's not in the players handbook. It's in Magic of Faerun if I remember correctly.

I believe it's Close in the game manual. I can't say what it really is in the actual D&D books. I do know that a 3rd level wizard casting that spell would have a 30ft range.

Wild Elves do make good sorcerers...better than humans in my opinion. The stat modifications are ok. The best part is getting the free large sword and bow feats. That would cost you 2 feats normally, assuming you are going to use weapons from those two areas. If you aren't then going human may be ...

Gedlee's electric loop-no range?

The spell should have range, yet every time I cast it the center is always on my character. Not terribly useful. The actual spell does have range so I'm wondering if this is a bug.

Sorry, Smass is correct. I failed to mention that rule.

I still prefer to keep things a little simpler than that. Being that I like to get more than 1 level in my other classes it gets tough having to balance the other class levels out. Such as wanted 4 levels of fighter. You'd have to waster ...

I wouldn't recommend getting more than 2 classes unless the game doesn't account for the 20% XP penalty.

What to multiclass the thief with depends on what you want to do with the thief. If you want to use two weapon fighting then the ranger is a good choice. If you don't, the ranger is a waste.

I ...

Yes I believe I made the correct choice. I love magic users and played NWN with a sorcerer. So far my part is around 7th level and starting battles with a 1-2 punch from the two sorcerers makes life very easy.

And it will only get better with higher level spells.

glitch with Mail of Life

I have my 7th level fighter using the Mail of Life. When it's on he can no longer use any of his feats like power attack and cleave. This is the same for other characters as well. When I put it on my paladin the special ability button is disabled. Has anyone seen this problem?

Well, Counter Strike and the D&D games are pretty much all I play. D&D games I play once or twice through and then have to wait to get another. Counter Strike goes on forever.....plus my fellow CoFR's are quite fun people to play with. I really should do some Neverwinter Nights with them ...

I studied the Druid for a while. While it does give some nice offensive spells and some fighting capability I decided against it and in favor of another sorcerer. I decided to multiclass the Thief with a couple fighter levels to give me my archer. That way I get a bit of both.

We'll see how it ...

Funny you should post the answer right after I stumbled upon it. Yes it's the ALT key thing. Seems like it was a different key in the other games....or I've just been playing too much Counter Strike.

Thanks.

Interface pains

After playing PORII and NWN I feel great pain going back to this interface. The thing that bothers me the most (and I can't remember if it was the same in BGII) is the fact that I can't hit a key and highlight all items that I can interact with on the screen. What a pain it is to go over everything ...

I hadn't tried all the formations so I'll see if I can find one with the leader in the back.

update- I tried all the formations and couldn't find any with the leader in the back. I guess I might just use my paladin and lose out on the money rewards since he is such a lawful good guy.

What to make for 6th character....

I'm a bit stumped as to what to make for my 6th character. Currently I have the following:

Aasimar Paladin
Wild Elf Cleric-Morninglord of Lathander
Wild Elf Sorcerer
Human Fighter (greatsword tank man)
Tiefling Rogue

That gives me two good tanks, a healer/2nd line tank, sneaker, and magic cannon ...

Party leader...

Is there a way to make the party leader not the first person in the formation? I'd like to use my Sorcerer for my leader since he has the high CHR and skills, but I can't have him be first in formation.
