still... both undersigil and the maze are very tedious ways to gain xp.
being evil is easy-ish (especially after you get Grimoire of Pestilential Thought)...but lawful evil...near impossible.

Last time I checked the monsters in Undersigil respawned, so you can pretty much milk that area to make up whatever XP you lose from quests.

you're correct. each of those larva worms from undersigil gives a whopping 8000 xp! (at least if you have 25 wisdom)
also afaik, the more you level up the ...

if there were abundance of monsters then maybe it wouldn't hurt so much to be lawful evil..for they would maybe compensate for quest xp loss

It doesn't happen in every cRPG, no. But in case of PST it's perfectly logical - through the whole gameplay you've been trying to acquire your real name and after all the hassle, you finally obtain it - the reward must be proper then. And these 2 million xp fulfill that role ;)

i tried to be an evil character but it *hurts* a lot to play so. i mean you end up losing quest XPs and sometimes killing NPCs.

if you are about the level up and if you manage to 'corner' one of the shadows i suggest you kill it (10000 xp) but all the other time running is the keyword here.

it really made sad to get the massive 2000000 xp from the bronze sphere towards the end of the game (since the game ends and you will find no use of the xp and your powerful character furthermore). also the torment tattoo which will never find its use.
