Ok, my problem is that all the battle sounds like spell chanting, the normal hit-sounds, and so forth, simply aren't there. I never had this problem...

A much easier way to creating this combo character would be to start as a Kensai, and get all the HP, THAC0 bonuses and skill points in the weapons...
