One of the writers (and self proclaimed MMORPG newbie) from Wolfpack Studios, the creators of the PvP-oriented MMORPG Shadowbane, has given a hugely detailed account of his initial foray into the game including pictures for every description including the char. building process. It's lengthy, well written (as you'd expect from a hired writer), and is a great summary of what it would be like to join in the beta. Here's a goblin-sized morsel:

A trio of scantily clad women came running by, armed with polearms, and began laying into the Grobolds. When I asked about their outfits, they told me that they’d sold their initial clothes to buy weapons! Without alternatives, they were forced to fight in their skivvies. I think they might have been German, but they still hailed me in English.

My favorite bit of dialogue:

Rilka (girl one): wanna group?
Beregund: very well.
Touril (girl two): You will join us or DIE.
Beregund: so it’s like that, is it?
Rilka: don’t’ mind her, she’s just grumpy we can’t buy armor.
Beregund: That would ruin my day.
Caveh (girl three): So Beregund, how do you like spending your afternoon with three half naked women?
Beregund: I can think of worse ways to spend my time.
Beregund: Just call me Charlie…

And that's exactly what it's like playing an MMORPG. ;)
