Background

When you pass by the abandoned house in the Market Triangle, a chill will go down your spine, and you'll spot the "ghostly visage of a child" in one of the house's windows. These events will trigger the quest.


Walkthrough

Inside the house, you'll see lots of spider webs, and you'll learn (via Peter's Journal at #1) that the family who lived in the house was plagued by spiders. Then when you enter the upstairs bedroom (#2), you'll be greeted by Sirachna, the King of the Spiders, who won't be happy that you've invaded his new lair. No matter what you say to him, he and six giant spiders will attack you.

You won't be able to defeat Sirachna in this battle. Once you've done enough damage to him, he'll flee to the basement, but on the way he'll drop a key (near Exit B), which will allow you to follow him.

Inside the basement, you'll encounter lots more spiders, and you'll find Peter's Ring on Peter's corpse (#3). Unfortunately, you won't be able to do anything with the ring. Nobody in the quest (or elsewhere) will comment on it, and you won't even be able to sell it.

Finally, you'll come to Sirachna's lair (#4). When you get far enough inside, Sirachna will summon three queen spiders, and he'll attack you again -- this time for real. The battle with Sirachna can be tough. It's a good idea to rest and buff up before starting it, and you might also want to visit the Morningstar Haven in the Arena District first so you can pick up Charissa to help you out.

When Sirachna dies, the quest will update, and you'll find the scimitar Spider's Kiss, the Cloak of Arachnida, and a Copper Ring on his corpse. Then when you return to the main floor of the house, the ghosts of the dead family will thank you for avenging them, and you'll receive 1000 xp. "Now, at long last, we may rest in peace with the knowledge that the King of Spiders is no more."

Inside the bedroom you'll discover the bodies of a woman and a child. You'll recognize the face of the child as the ghostly visage you saw in the window before entering the house.

Exits:

2. Stairs between the main floor and the upper floor.
3. Doorway between the main floor and the basement. This door will start out locked, and you won't be able to go through it until you've skirmished with Sirachna (#2).
