From the looks of the demo, it's a safe bet the story-related scenarios at least will give you the freedom to define your play style. When confronted with a surly bouncer who wasn't too excited about letting Jensen enter the club, the demo's driver went through a simple-looking menu-based dialog tree to talk his way past the front door. The conversation system doesn't look quite as elaborate here as the ones in games like Alpha Protocol and Mass Effect have recently, but each option does carry a label dictating how aggressive or focused on the topic at hand it is. Of course, afterward I was told it would have been a perfectly valid option to just shoot the guy and storm into the place, too.Game Zenith.
Once the demo concluded, the developers continued to insist that they are doing everything in their power to stay true to the original Deus Ex while at the same time adding in fresh elements. They continue to mention the idea that they are pushing for the players to explore many ways to achieve their objectives throughout the game as the missions are very non-linear and can be approached from a variety of avenues such as stealth, combat, persuasion, and so on. It is too bad that Deus Ex: Human Revolution will not be shipping this year because by looking at the demo, it looks like a game that would be totally fine if it shipped November of this year but then again, that is my opinion based off of what was shown in the demo and of course these E3 demos are always specifically worked on so they have somewhat of a great presentation to the attendees, maybe the rest of the game does not look so..presentable.Gamer Limit.
Setting aside the issues of gameplay and story for just one more moment, the amount of polish already present in the graphics is astounding. The game is still in a pre-alpha state, and I would be thoroughly content if the current state of the visuals represented how the game shipped, although I'm hoping for a few more coats of paint to give it just that little extra oomph.
