Well, I have recently discovered the power of the tenser's transformation spell (level 6) as a skald (and no doubt as a blade, bard or jester as well).

I dont like to think about what is best (toughest/most effective); im more interested in what is most fun to play.

Right now im playing a skald and enjoying that. I also like the swashbuckler, the druid kits, fighter kits and paladin kits.

Bard spells go up to 6th level.

My skald is currently level 15 and he still only has access to 5th level spells, so its a while before you get 6th level.

I wouldnt recommend dualing a bard to a skald, youd be better off with a mage/thief or thief-->mage combination if you are wanting ...

I personally think that your party is pretty good with the following exceptions.

Khalid has low morale and is inclined to flee at the first sign of trouble. I know he comes hand in hand with jaheira though; the only way to avoid this is for him to "accidentally" meet an untimely end.

Just reading my post guys, sorry thats a typo. What I meant to say was that the blade song is useless up until the HLA enhanced bard song becomes available.

As for the enhanced bard song vs the skald song, they are very similar, but the HLA gives you magic resistance (10% to yourself ...

Yeah I know what you mean about getting lost in the decision making process.

Its fun looking at all of the classes and weighing up the pros and cons before making that all important decision - especially if you intend to play from BG1 right through the series.

After sleeping on it last night and waiting about 24 hrs or so since finishing bg1, I have just imported my character and made him a skald.

I have chosen two handed weapon, two handed sword, halberd and lowbow proficiencies initially.

I just finished BG 1 + TOSC with my bard, who is now almost level 10.

Upon importing I need to select a class specialization.

The two obvious choices are blade and skald.

re the enhanced bard song HLA, it would appear that this is just as a good as the skald's song ...

That is just a flaw in the game really.

The point here (for me at least) is more of a possibility than an actuality, but it would be interesting to play the game through as a non jedi class.

no, TOB was pretty stable for me in jaguar, if a little slow.

BG1 with TOSC installed though is virtually unplayable in osX for me. Im using my os9 partition and it runs well on that.

As for basilisks, its always handy to either have the protection from petrification scrolls handy, potions of mirror eyes or the protection from petrification spell memorised.
