Minsc is great. He's one of the more versatile characters and can really step up when needed.

Although I tend to switch back and forth between different weapons, I've nearly exclusively used him as an axe thrower rather than a core melee (mostly because I'm a paladin with carsomyr).

But if you ...

okay, its been along time since I've played AD&D and frankly I've neverheard of the Tarrasque. In fact, back then, the highest HPs anyone could have was 400 (and those were major deities).

But as far as this goes, I'd say what about the "creeping doom" 7th level druid spell (that I think did some ...

okay, here's a thought - does anyone ever recall in either the forgotten realms or middle earth written materials (books, etc.)where any character has cast a "time stop" spell?

Its hard for me to see how an author would really handle that. I feel shut out everytime the lich does it. I'd probably ...

well, i never read completely through Tolkein's books, but I thought I remember Gandalf being pretty powerful (the white wizard or something). He was, I think, one of those "only wizard of his kind" type things. And I don't know much about Elminster, so its hard to tell.

As for Aragorn, I never had ...

Hey, I've never heard that you can be trapped in the city. What's up with that? Who's the person that must show up?

I always thought I'd go through everything, then unleash a few pit fiends and watch the fun. Is this bad?

Actually, I'm wondering what the top picture is. Never seen it.

And I bet the 2nd portrait is the wild-mage. Although it looks really cool for some undead type creature.

Of course, Bioware may not have to play by all the rules, but the portraits look like an evil party w/ Montaron and Viconia - so ...

A few people hit on my suggestions. I'm playing core rules BTW.

Intelligence has a limiting number of spells to learn as well (number and spell level(I think)). Only by increasing the Int. above a certain point will you be able to learn advanced spells. It is realistic afterall. You shouldn't let a ...

so, did you find the illithid and beholder dungeons easy in the underdark.

I thought the beholder stuff was easy while I carried Balduran's shield, but then the elder orb casts imprisonment (and my PC was holding the shield). The illithids I thought were hard if you didn't use summoned monsters ...

here's a different thought - would the Shadow Dragon be harder if his hitpoints, ac and damage per attack were equalled to Firkaag's? My thought is yes.

Firkaag tends to be a brute strength brawl - but his magic is reserved mostly for protecting himself. And fire as a breath weapon is overrated ...

Here's a question on topic.

I'm in Ust'Natha and acquired a rod of smiting. It says it has a chance to kill golems with one hit (and is +10 against golems as well). But when I was in the Illithid Dungeon, I tried to kill the brain golems and was getting slaughtered. Does this thing really work?

If ...

gee, 4 posts and I've read hardly any of these.

I highly recommend the Black Company series by Glen Cook. His most recent books have begun to lose flavor, but the original 3 and the subsequent 3 were quite good. It starts with the self-titled "Black Company".

I'd also throw in Michael Moor****'s ...

okay, here's a rare voice. I don't mind the "gather your party" stuff - but it should be graded. If I'm in a fight, I agree - no one escapes unless they are really at a door. But if I'm not in combat, make the area larger for your group to be in.

Also, given the limited time the game designers have ...

Okay, looks like my other post never made it. Quick question - do death knights still exist in AD&D?

When I played, death knights were some of the baddest guys around. These were corrupted fighter/mages (not anti- or fallen paladins) who were rumored to be created by a demon prince. There were 14 ...

For Kayless and a few select others - during BG1, once you uncovered an area, you can "auto travel" to that spot similar to in BG2. Some people (and it sounds like you) actually walked the entire world every time you went anywhere. Once the fog of war is gone, point and click and you're there.

As ...
