History and Timeline Stuff

I had a few questions.

When does the hoard" occur in the heartlands? And is that when the King Anzon Dies in battle?

If someone knows of a good refrence for events around that time it would be great

It says the candle lasts for 4 hours in the DMG...

i did some digging around and found a description that says you use it while memorizeing spells, and tthen you can put it out. If you learn spells higher than your natural level, then the candle must stay lit until you cast it...

makes some sense...

Weapon Intelegence and Ego

I was reading the 2E DMG and was wondering how the Weapon vrs PC part worked. You get an Ego score from the weapon, say 23....and a Personalty Score from the PC (W+Ch+HD) say 31. Than what? Its vauge, and i cant remeber what we used to do. I rember rolling with these numbers when attempting to ...
You're dead. Depending on a type of poison you might need Neutralize Poison spell cast on your corpse before Raise Dead because otherwise you have to make another Poison save and on a failed save you die again.
Is that for the duration of the poison, or indefently?

Poison Save (old school)

Poison

I know most of you play 3E, but please humor me with this one. I know there are house rules on this one, but I would like to hear other opinions….

When a poison or monster with poison says Save vs. Poison or DIE, what exactly does that mean? I got into a discussion with some friends and ...

Relationships between Drow, Zhents, and others

Well, one of our DM’s is beginning a Evil FR campaign….let the intrigue and treachery begin! It will be fun to see if we can make it through a full gaming session…lol

For some PC research im doing, I was hoping some of you might help me figure out a few things…

One thing I often do for side treks in a on-going campaign is to bring back NPC’s that the party has pissed off in previous adventures. There are lots of things you can do with that concept, from assignation attempts, or burglaries trying retrieve items, or even spying by organizations who have had ...

Our DM just recently ran us through “The Accused Tower” adventure. Its set in the Icewindale Local, and Drizzt plays a minor role as an NPC. The adventure it self was a lot of fun, I would recommend it to anyone. It was also cool to meet Drizzt as a PC. A member of our party was a ranger, and his ...

I agree. 1st and 2E are not that much different. I think it may be better to compare D&D to AD&D to 3E

You may want to look at the 2E Combat and Tactics book, where there is a breakdown of weapons and armor from various historical periods.

Magic Items would probably be very different also.

Something else to consider, for a long-term campaign, is that the Ice age doesn’t necessarily mean cold ...

As for the Tower of High Socery, it's great, as you join, or you become hunted down, as has been stated, as a renegade. This really regulates magic in a fantastic manner. Also, the bonus's attached to association with the Tower in Wayreth were great as well: Powerful magic item, access ...
I was brand new to D&D and I don't think the DM was half as good as he thought he was. There were no other players that were consistant, which made things an even bigger mess- just me and him, trying to play. Consequently, we broke the rules in more ways than you can imagine ...

It’s been a long time since I played dragon lance, but what sticks out in my mind was wizards were very challenging. I too have been playing D&D for at least 20 years. My first experience with D&D was a pink box, with a dragon on the front. I was fairly young at this point, but just the picture pulled much wonder and inspiration out of me, that I was able to put in the energy to figure out the game with some ...
