Sure. Some of the people could have better stats for their class - I think you were questioning the stats for their class thing not the fact that they have apparantly have *low* stats ...

Are you soloing? Or who do you have in your party? More fighter intensive or magic orientated?
Anyway, here is what i do (usually a more melee intensive party), there are no tricks to it, and I am assuming you cant yet use TOB proficiencies. I usually cant by this stage.

Not sure if game necessary items or artifacts disapear after time. (I think they might not dissapear, but thats a guess)

Its the opening lines of a diary from one of the main characters,who is a super-hero, called Roscharch (spelling? Like the guy the blot tests are named after)

I would also go for a barbarian every time.
The extra movement speed helps too. Move fast, hit hard. None of this namby-pamby aspects of being a kensai sword saint, or all the martial training and dedication of being a monk. Just get the biggest weapon you can find and charge really fast in ...
