No, the biggest issue is that they listened to their customers. The people who were perfectly satisfied with Morrowind said nothing, and I am guilty of this. The ones who found it too hard complained. They attempted to address the complaints.
The game is hardly easier ...
Stillodium brings up a good point, that console gamers are a different breed. This is very true, but unlikely to affect a game that already has a dedicated fanbase. Games like Oblivion won't appeal to everyone, and Bethsoft knows that, what's more likely, that they'll screw with ...

Unfortunately the "dumbing down" it's hardly related to hardware, it's a mater of target audience, console users are much younger and prefer theyr games to be more arcade. It's as simple as that. A hard core rpg full of story, character development, many harsh rules and tough decisions is not what ...

Allways look at the map in those situations, it usually shows paths you can not see. Just below the water surface it's a tunnel in the stone wall. I don't remember exactly how deep but if you look at the map to see the direction and then go down along the wall you can't miss it.

Very true...regardless of many other attempts i allways seemed to play BG2 with a paladin for that greatsword that only they could wield (i don't remember the name). Heh...the patience and sense of acomplishment, to wear the dragon's defenses down and kill him with the "poor man's finger of death ...

rputran...heh...Vampire the Masquerade, that game is like the epitome of atmosphere, comparing it to oblivion is allmost cruel :P (even now that i know the haunted mansion is empty i still shiver when i do the mission, they went well beyond great soundtrack, voice acting and lighting when they did ...
The most difficult problem for RPG makers in this type of game is accounting for the multitudinous plethora (I know it's redundant I'm trying to get my point across) of paths that the player could take.
It's a huge issue to tackle and no one has done it right just yet. Then again ...

Hmm...well...i'd have to say there are three things that really kill it for me, i'm not going to get into the whole level scaling thing, i do not believe that weak monsters make a great experience, i do however think that individual npc's let's more or less randomly say 30 should be preset as a rule ...

Indeed... the torrents.

Let's face it, unless you are new to the net/computer thing and you still believe that the FBI/Interpol will get you :D you are bound to "get curious". Most times they even appear a week before the release date on the net.

That said i agree completely, very bad move by them ...

I hate to be the one who badmouths the game, especially seeing as i am playing it :P (though that is due more to the utter lack of single player rpg's right now)

I also do not like first person rpg's, it hardly provides more immersion than third person and it deprives you of quite elementary things ...

For one thing i hope this thread doesnt come to resemble those on the official forums...

I have to say i am quite annoyed myself, 2$ for horse armor is perplexing, if i didn't know better i'd say they were bankrupt or something and this was a cry for help, not to mention a very delicate precedent ...

well...i do play with the difficulty slider maxed but that is not an option really, after playing enough rpg you really need a chalenge to stick with yet another, regardless of what graphics etc. he has

as for leveling mods, can't do that, for much the same reason that i don't power level, it's not ...
