Yes, version 1.5 is the latest patch. There's no epic edition. Lemmus surely meant enhanced edition.

He's right. You'll have to go to the swamp to advance the main quest, and many other quests. There's no way you can avoid it. And yes, you can take a boat back and forth from the swamp and the temple quarter (and teleport using places of power as well for a while).

I would not recommend Full Combat Rebalance on your first playthrough, save it for the second. For your first playthrough, you should use Flash's other mod: Flash Mod. IIRC, they are both available through one installer, you just pick which one you want to install and which elements.

It's as he says...advance the main quest - Lock and Key. After you take out the two Salamandra bases, Leuvarden will tell you where the third one is, and in the course of that mission you'll be surprised by him.

Why put it in the game? It's relevant to one of the big plot choices in Chapter III, when the Scoiatel break into the bank to reclaim the money for nonhumans and you have to decide who to help.
