Jared, it's a freakin bard, the jack-of-all-trades. In friggin IWD.

...Where the average halfling thief needed more hitpoints by midgame than your ascended bhaalspawn barbarian had at the end of BG2.

Your stats, except WIS and CHA (and INT on non-arcane casters, but you're a caster), must - *must ...

nope, stats don't level... there's just a few items that give straight-forward bonuses (mostly +1, rarely +2) and, depending on the version, might be a potion or two (random and changed around by patches and expansions, supposedly) that SWITCHES your stats (like +1 this -1 that)...

other than that ...

likely a win7/vista and/or 64-bit problem

solutions to attempt:
*install THE GAME outside games/ or program files/ program files (x86)/ - to any non-windows directory, in fact, like C:/BG2/
*remove the default "Read-only" property from the folder
* "take possession" of THE GAME folder (may belong ...

Huuuuuh??

She ALWAYS drops in 3 seconds... or doesn't drop at all.

It's not a dragon fight or anything, just a big scary-looking boss with a few immunities - very hit or miss. Either you came equipped correctly and you win in seconds, or you planned wrong and she chunks the lot of you.

Also ...

Comparing F3 to Oblivion - an insult to Oblivion

Hey! Don't compare F3 to Oblivion... That's an injustice to Oblivion.

For all its faults, Oblivion was innovative, huge, full of eye-candy, and did have a devilishly entertaining long quest chain (Assassins) that some other devs would have ...

Weren't there people exploiting The Equalizer's bonuses from offhand to apply to all attacks? Or is Equalizer coded differently than Daystar?

As to Minsc and Boo, I vaguely remember some claim that Minsc later got added to some sort of official D&D material as the avatar of Boo, not just an honest-to-god miniature giant space hamster, but in actuality some sort of minor ...

Lower is better.

As in lowest possible DIE ROLL (20-sided) to hit AC=0 (an average fighter wearing plate).

So, a thac0 of 1 will hit AC=0 on all rolls from 1 to 20, thus basically hitting anything non-magical 100% of the time. **edit: I lied. A roll of 1 ...

Alignment all weird?

The thread on playing evil got me thinking about alignment. The game's view just doesn't match my perception of how alignment is supposed to work.

I'm pretty sure that true alignment is only supposed to always show up when faced w/ adversity & stress. IN NORMAL RELAXED EVERYDAY LIFE, ALIGNMENT ONLY ...

Does The Sleeper affect mainhand attacks from offhand? ...and other item questions

I had The Sleeper in offhand for a bit while my C/R multi was off looking for something harder-hitting at the start of the game... IIRC, it had a horrendous save penalty of like +4, yet I was getting KOed enemies all over the place, despite it only attacking once per round. SO - is the item text ...

Anyone ever try an all-UAI party? Any cool benefits-combos from it?

If we're not modding or SKing, your party'd be:
*Haer-Dalis
*Jan

So, your roles for 'decent puncher + magical backup w/buffs & debuffs' and 'sneaky magical turnip boy - spellslinger and trapspringer' are filled. If everyone stays mirrored+stoneskinned 24/7, you can probably avoid a cleric ...

This would be a nice time to note that, at least until spell levels cap for the *multi-classed* Jan (that'd be what, 7.5mil XP, aka Jan's last gained illusionist level), Haer Dalis casts at WAY higher caster levels... his Tenser's tops out @ 2.2 mil XP -AND- his rogue thac0, same max achievable as ...

There's a widescreen mod at Gibberlings3. As for trying to pretty up the game like they did for, lets say Oblivion and Fallout 3 with their various beautification mods, well there's not much you can do with a 2D game and a lot of stuff is hard coded into the game so you can't really make changes ...
