A word to the wise: according to the manual, wisdom starts conferring a "magical defense bonus" at 15...I believe this modifies some (if not all) saving throws. I tend to max out a character's wisdom ahead of strength but after dex (and con for fighter PC's). Lots of spells and items can improve ...

Perhaps we can look to the "slayer change" ability to get ideas for the one ring. Like the slayer change, "using" the ring would open up a dialogue whereby the bearer must "give up" a part of themselves (sacrifice of constitution instead of reputation), and then there is a chance every use of ...

Until recently, only ever played core rules. Turned the difficulty up to "hard" a couple of weeks ago for my 2nd playthrough of ToB. It's not as bad as I thought it'd be, though my fighters use "hardiness" a lot more often.

Lately my favourite has been Greater Malison...use it 3-4 times a day, and since even the fighters' attacks now involve saves (e.g. Celestial Fury: save or be stunned), the effects are very noticeable. Makes a lot of spells, like slow, more useful.

Also Jaheira's Dolorous decay has started working ...

And don't forget Saruman...if it's Gandalf the GREY we be talking about, then I'd put Saruman ahead of him in power. Only later does this change...

In defence of my idea to make Gandalf a (mere) 12th level, this was only suggested for making a playable mod where Gandalf is an NPC who joins the ...

If you want variety, try dumping Minsc for Mazzy or Valygar, and get into spears, katanas, or one-hand swords. I notice you have no dual-wielders, which can be quite fun later in the game when the more powerful weapons show up - they often carry innate defensive abilities when equipped.

How badly ...

If you follow Saemon you will not miss anything; the portal to the underdark is a shortcut and skips a bit of a quest with some fishfolk. Some good loot to be had if you go with Saemon.

Two thumbs up for Viconia - Ollamnh, you probably didn't notice the magic resistance, which really makes a difference (2/3 of all spells do not affect her). And yes she's dirty and mean and quick to get in the sack but her dialoques with the other NPC's can be pretty hilarious. Also, she's got the ...

@MegaToerist: nice party, but I'm not sure where you get those super low AC's. E.G. Imoen has AC -1 with those bracers and dex, which becomes -3 with the cloak or prot. +2, and finally -5 when she's wielding the Staff of the Magi. So I see her having -13 only with spell buffs on top, which is great ...

Nalia's OK, she's the best option for getting a high level mage early in the game if you don't like Evil Edwin.

But as far as the Imoen romance, Quitch, I think its an excellent idea. The "incestuousness" of it all offers a perfect element of tragedy to a story that already draws on many elements ...

My favorite party was/is:

Korgan
Viconia
Imoen (for roleplay, and the bare necessities in thieving skills)
Kasei (human kensai/mage, dualled at 9th kensai).

Worked really well most of the game, had trouble with ToB until i discovered useful combat spell trigger for the Kensai/mage: Prot. Magical ...

FIVE more 7th level spells? Incredible! I now have to seriously reconsider ...
