Background

Niku is hiding in a cave in the East Forest. Without supplies, the town constable will surely perish.


Walkthrough

Find Niku

You'll receive this quest from Tatyana in Lower Raven's Rill (#1) after completing the main objectives of the quest The Search for Survivors. Tatyana will tell you that her husband Niku is one of the town's two constables, but that he fled to the east when the Lescanzi mercenaries arrived (if you completed the quest The Widow's Revenge, then you might remember that the other constable was killed). Tatyana will then give you a package of supplies, and she'll ask you to deliver it to Niku in the East Forest.

You'll find Niku trapped in a cocoon in the Shadowrift Cavern (#2). To free him, you'll have to defeat the giant white spider Palefang, which will summon lots of little spiders and also bite you to steal your health. To defeat Palefang, you'll need to concentrate on group attacks so you can damage Palefang and the little spiders at the same time. It's difficult to stay away from Palefang because it has long, lunging attacks, so you might as well wade right in and do as much damage as possible.

After the battle, when you cut Niku down, he'll reward you with 736 xp and the Constable's Handcannon (which can only be used by Katarina). Then he'll return to Lower Raven's Rill. If you follow him home and talk to Tatyana again, she won't say anything of interest or give you a further reward.
