Background

The scholar, Maximilien, is seeking three relics from the Heroes' Crypt: the Skull of Norick, the Sword of Bolingar, and Merik's Staff. He has offered a reward for each relic that you find and bring to him.


Walkthrough

When you reach the entrance to the Heroes' Crypt (#1), you'll find Maximilien, a scholar with the Stonebridge Society of Antiquaries, hovering around. No matter what you say to him, he'll give you this quest, and then he'll patiently wait for you to return with the relics.

Find the Skull of Norick

You'll find the Skull of Norick (#6) inside a locked room. You'll need to pick up the Crypt Keeper's Key (#3) to unlock the door to the room (#5).

Find Merik's Staff

You'll find the Staff of Merik in the Hall of Heroes, in Merik's sarcophagus (#9).

Find Lord Bolingar's Sword

You'll find Lord Bolingar's Shattered Blade on a stand (#12) past Drakomir (#10).

Return the Relics to Maximilien

You'll find Maximilien waiting for you at the entrance to the crypt (#1). When you hand over the relics to him, you'll receive roughly 3000 coins in total (the exact amount is random) plus 863 xp.

2 - Locked Door

You'll only be able to open this door from the eastern side (that is, as you're leaving the crypt).


3 - Room

Inside this room you'll find two sarcophagi that you can loot, a book that will give you the lore entry for Groundskeeper's Journal, and a dead body holding the Crypt Keeper's Key. The key will allow you to unlock a door to the east (#5).


4 - Book

The book here will give you the lore entry for The Heroes' Crypt: Part II.


5 - Locked Door

You'll need the Crypt Keeper's Key (#3) to open this door.


6 - The Skull of Norick


7 - Shrine to the Farmer


8 - Book

The book here will give you the lore entry for Old and Faded Parchment.


9 - The Hall of Heroes

Inside this hall you'll find several sarcophagi that you can loot for unique items: Bourbon Blade of Rusk, Grand Mage Breeches, Naidi's Archery Glove, Phaedriel's Bracers, Sikra's Bodice, Ulfgrim's Buckler, and Zed's Lucky Shoes. You'll also find The Staff of Merik in Merik's sarcophagus.

Inside this sarcophagus you'll find Vestments of Life Everlasting.


12 - Lord Bolingar's Shattered Blade
