I thought that Carsomyr really inflicts 1d10, not 1d12 as claimed?

Incidentally, the only fair comparison is Carsomyr vs. Purifier + shield or weapon, since you're not going to waste your off-hand.

Was Drizzt's party really that tough to kill? I didn't really have any trouble killing them, but I guess I didn't fight Drizzt till I knew my way around the game pretty well.

Anyway, the improved Demogorgon script from Baldurdash I think makes him the toughest fight in ToB. Otherwise, Melissan or ...

That's a great idea. Throw in the Ravager and Draconis for good measure and that group might be a worthy challenge for my grandmaster dart-throwing Wizardslayer.

Just a bit of advocacy for Wild Mage: Reckless Dweomer (the level 1 spell) is the best spell in the game by a huge margin.

With improved chaos shield and a decent level (such as you're at even at the start of ToB) you've got an excellent chance of successfully casting whatever absurdly powerful ...

Wild Surge: Area Effect, Wish (a wish for everyone! rejoice! no monsters around, though)

Wild Surge: No Save, Dragon's Breath (in a fairly desperate situation)

Wild Surge: Double Hitpoints (immediately before getting hit with real dragon breath that would have meant death)

On the other hand ...

She's fine. The first dungeon will have a couple traps she won't be able to disarm, but you get a nice item in the second dungeon that (with the Ring of Danger Sense) gives her ...

There's nothing inherently wrong about about BG being unfaithful to the source material in the plentitude of ridiculously powerful items, or speed of leveling. It's a matter of personal preference.

Personally, I could care less about AD&D, so it really makes no difference to me if many things are ...

Keep in mind that you find the Amulet of the Master Harper (+20% pick locks, +20% detect traps, +3 bonus AC) fairly soon along the main plotline in ToB. With the Ring of Danger Sense and the amulet, even Imoen has enough skill to disarm most everything.

Traps aren't much worse than in SoA, actually ...

One of the developers claimed to have soloed with a monk, so it's definitely possible. I really don't know how you'd kill Melissan, though. I guess if you have a lot of whirlwinds and are lucky enough that she doesn't cast time stop and attack you...

It's really an easter egg; if you bring him a full set of pantaloons (which you had to acquire by cheating or importing from BG1) you get an interesting suit of "armor." Do a search for pantaloons if you want to know more.

Yeah, Hindo's Doom. It's pretty mediocre by ToB standards. Protection from death spells, 10% magic resistance, casts greater restoration 1/day. Yawn. Go for axes, long sword, bastard sword, flail, or ...

I didn't really have problems with Melissan attacking my mages. Have Viconia, Edwin, and Imoen use Energy Blades on Melissan (and use Limited Wish with some wisdom potions to get spells back if necessary--I didn't need to do this but I assume it still works). Ignore the summoned monsters; just ...

Melissan easier than Demogorgon and Draconis? Weird. Draconis was fun and challenging, but really didn't have a chance even against my unprepared party. Demogorgon went down in two rounds.

Melissan, by contrast, took a lot of effort and I still died twice (to time stop + melee attack the third ...

Do you have the Robe of Vecna from the SoA bonus merchants? It will help A LOT in getting a Time Stop off. Then you can have your way with Draconis. (Have a spell trigger ready with 2 or 3 lower resists.)

I assume you're talking about Draconis, the really fast one. Forget fighting him in melee--you might kill him in melee, but hurt him first. You just need to hit him with a Spell Trigger of Lower Resists and have Edwin and Imoen cast Abi Dalzim several times each. Get off a time stop if you can (two ...

There are some good dialogs, especially with Sarevok and Imoen. I was worried at first, myself, but they finally got talking. Also, Aerie's romance is apparently the most interesting (surprise).

Some of the special abilities are terrific. Planetars and Devas are incredible.

ToB was far easier than ...

2. Saemon Havarian definitely comes back. I didn't try to kill him, but I think you can.

3. No.

4. Not that I know of (PC abilities that is).

5. Yes and yes and yes (i.e. yes he has interesting dialog, yes you can change him, and yes he can remain a murderous bastard).

6. I don't think ...
