I always use the 2 staggered rows thing, since I only ever have 2 - 4 characters. It allows my main to be in front, and if stealthed, they stop before anyone is seen. The snake sucks because it makes the lead char stop what they're doing (ie cancels stealth, find traps etc) every time they move ...

Chocolate Golems are the worst - they can only be damaged with hot +5 butter knives.
Unless of course you have a wizard slayer, whose main special abilty is sucking :)
At the risk of being helpful (unlikely) have you tried talking to the critters in the room outside the golem area? They fight, then ...

I don't think it matters much - you could probably have six beastmasters and you'd still manage to kill everything (with enough reloads).
I wish I could play with a team of six familiars - that might be amusing :)

Yes, 3e bardsong stays active while fighting - they might actually be useful. Check out the NWN site.

The original BG was in the D&D 2e 'comfort zone', where it actually worked for the most part. Beyond level 10, 2e becomes notoriously unbalanced, rogues and priests are feeble, and mages (and high level spells) are ludicrously overpowered.
In order to try to make a silk purse out of a sows ear ...

So it is little fellow, thankyou for boring me further with your helpful, if tactless reply. I so enjoyed thumbing through the indexless spell list yet again. Perhaps you feel the need to call people names in order to make your own inadequacies seem less overwhelming? You needn't bother - in your ...

I'm so bored that I reinstalled this dreadful game and loaded up a savegame where Imoen gets to fight some drow mages in an arena type of thing (don't ask me why - apparently it has something to do with a naughty elf called Johnny, who is forcing me to tromp through dungeon after boring dungeon for ...

Like the guy on the previous page, when I play a ranger I always charm animals that attack and send them off across the map.
I always store everything in the two tables outside the Copper Coronet.
I never have more than four people in my party, and only summon on demand so that the members go in the ...

Ranger/clerics are the best druids :)
Druids are really feeble in BG2, and the cleric gets most of the same high level abilities in ToB, with the added bonus of turn undead, great fighting buffs, better thaco, better armour and better summons. The druid shapeshift abilities are pretty much useless ...

Yeah, I liked the way they handled that in 'Planescape: Torment', where the Nameless One was immortal - no more reloads! Just heal up and go in again! It really helped with immersion, I mean how immersive is a 'save or reload' spell?

First of all, like in any Beholder encounter, make sure the person in front is using the Shield of Balduran to reflect rays - the beholder will eventually dire charm itself and switch sides. Send an invisible tank over to the back of the room to whack the mage, and have everyone else hang near the ...

Another point in Cernd's favour is that the spell tables cap out at 31 (apparently) and Jaheira is not going to get that far - so Cernd will have a *lot* more high level spells in addition to more high level quest spells to choose from. Jaheira will have a few fighter special abilities, but I ...

The first time I played with a Swasbuckler (as far as the Underdark), and I have to say he was a *feeble* tank. If you do decide to play one, make sure you get the Balderdash patch so you can have weapon specialization for the extra attack. SoA is as buggy as a student flat, and you have to correct ...

Another thing to consider is that multiclass characters will be piss-poor in ToB - they'll only get one or two special abilities/spells, and most of the new stuff is *extremely* powerful. For that reason I won't even have one multi in my party for ToB.
(Edit) Apparently multiclasses *do* get just as ...

Xyx - not so. The bonus spells for wisdom are cumulative. Jaheira has 14 vs Cernd's 18 wis, therefore Cernd has an extra two first level, two second level, a third and a fourth - a total of six additional spells.
Jaheira is a pretty poor druid, and if she's carried over to ToB she'll be able to ...
