what I read from the gothic 3 readme file is, the minimum is 1GB and recommended is 2GB. I was cursing the developer when I red about that, as I only have 768MB back then. Even with 768MB, the game is unplayable at all low. frame rate at single digit.
Now with 1.2GB and the.INI tweak, the game is ...

G3 Quest bug (spoiler)
I'm not sure it these are already known/fixed, so I decided to list those I found (and caused me to restart the game) and see if any one have any way of solving it (I decided not to use the console to spawn quest items)

Wow, sounds like it's actually playable on your system. My system also has 512 MB RAM and it's unplayable even on low settings (graphic card GeForce 6800GT 256 MB, AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.0Ghz). Ashen also says it runs fine on his system. Why is it so slow on mine :( ? My computer runs all the other ...

you can do it in two ways.
The hard way: actually the VERY hard way - run in and chop on it. You get burnt, blown away and knocked back. I'll take a Black Troll over a Dragon that way any day.
or you can plug arrows or bolts in to the dragon from a distance if you are skillful enough, you can get ...

running fine in medium with 1GB, R9600XT128 and A64 3000+, note I have 2 ATA 7200rpm HDD in RAID 0 though.
However the game is not as smooth as I like...but still playable. I have to keep the post processing on, since turning it off will cause the screen to flash (very annoying) periodically.

i have a pickaxe in my inventory, and I'm able to dig on gold/silver vanes in som oe the caves. IIRC, I also harvested some gems (not 100% sure, as the fight in the cave got too intensed I was like in a trance, so I didn't pay attention of whether those gems are from mining or chests). Never tried ...

To be more precise, the game have to cooperate with the Windows and other applications/processes when it is running in windowed mode, instead of gaining sole abusolute control over the display hardware in full screen mode.
While in windowed mode, the display hardware is still controlled by Windows ...

I don't think F.E.A.R. is a good choice of indication for Oblivion performance on a system. It could be valid for visual quality, but definitely not for performance.
F.E.A.R. runs smooth on my system with about 75% setting, i.e. Set it at 1024x768, Medium quality, and turn up to 4xAA and shadow a ...
