Paladin should have a range, sword and a blunt weapon to be effective. So shall all fighter classes.

Fighter dual to cleric at level 7 gives extra APR and extra point specialization. And in the case of Ranger dual to cleric, she gets druid spell access.

Make a balanced party that can cast various holding spells and summons. Druids are good for this. If you have a wizard then you put webs or haste your summons.

Its good to know people are still playing this game. My thoughts...

A party consisting of all druid, cleric, mage/bard, is better than a party missing one of these. A C/R cannot replace a druid as the druid can shape shift and have better summon/attack spells at higher levels.

I used to play a C ...

So it doesn't really matter does it? dc = mc. Picking a dc will make game play much easier as lesser experience is required.

I just wanted to show that a low level dc f/d has little difference compared to multi. Since i had the table in my pc for years, why not post it?

That being said. Starting ...

Did the following comparison some time ago:
All char with 2pp on staff except dc-fd having 4pp
1m means dc has 1m exp but mc has 1m+75000
11,3 means thaco=11, apr=3

dc-rc mc-rc dc-fd mc-fd fmt pal
200000 11,3 11,3 9,2 10,2 11,2 10,2
300000 11,3 10,3 9,2 10,2 10,2 9,2

Why not put clubs on druids? Check out Star Metal Cudgel - best used against undead.

Staff is the only 2h weapon that allows F/T to backstab/sneakattack. That's more fun than greatsword.

If you want to cover all the weapon proficiency, then drop the c/m and replace with a f/m or f/ill.

2 clerics is not necessary. Its better to dual the ranger to cleric at level7. You gain a lot of cleric spells at the expense of 1/2 apr.

The following should cover all weapons.
pal - slings, sword ...

Non-Random before the entrance to the vale cave is a dagger, longsword & 1 mace. The rest are random drops.

Only need 2 tanks using +1 weapons. The reason is there are only 2 ring of freedom. I think most will cast web then send their warriors in (on Hof mode).

Druids & clerics can call up clubs ...

I built a similar party for HoF and insane mode from the beginnning, but had a few questions on your reasons for weapon specializations.

Why are two characters specializing in flails and only one in maces? 2 kinds of weapons, morning stars and maces, fall in the mace category. Magical and quality ...

There is only 1 helm and you already have a gnome F/Ill. IMHO replacing the gnome fighter with a dwarf is much better as dwarf has the best saves.

For weapon prof (assuming 8 *) I'd the following:
Fighter - slings*/mace**/Axes*****
R/C - slings/Staff/Hammer/Flail
F/D - slings/dagger/Sword/Clubs
F ...

Are you sure about that?

I'm going to have to rethink my F/M/C character. Rats.

Maybe I'll do this:

(all multiclassed):
C/R Half-Elf
F/Ill Gnome
F/T Gnome
Bard Half-Elf

Still a very powerful group, IMHO.

BTW, I think F/Ill > F/M. The 9th level spells are the only ones Bards don't have access ...

If you want to reach 30/30 in a party of 4. I'd go:
f/c (dwarf - for saves)
f/t (gnome for immunity to haste)
f/d
f9>mage

A multi mage won't get to level 30. does it matter?

I'd play a multi f/d in a party of 4 because all the druid ability is available. Dualing at 9/13 makes a stronger character but I'd not go without a druid in the start/middle of the game.

Also depends how you use the druid. For me, i use her as a slinger and for spell casting almost all the time ...

There is no need to turn cheat=on in this game.

All the cheat you need is:
1. save and reload
2. set the game in normal mode and if it gets too hot then set to easy mode.
3. dalekeeper to make a superman if you wish

I like a f/m/t for a party of 6 if in Hof mode. The thief is adequate. Archer skills are quite good. Mage spells below level 6 are really that's all you need.
