A CPP file is a C++ programming language source file, thus I guess it might be a damaged exe or dll file.
Did you try reinstalling the official patch?

Pushing Vithal for more rewards, I remember I got in addition to the rod 2 scrolls: horrid wilting & simulacrum IIRC.
Does he have more stuff on him, or you suggest to kill him for the XP only?

I may be wrong but I think the Beholder's death spell kills all summoned creatures, including elementals (when I tried there were Elder Orbs too so I'm not absolutely sure).
Thus, elementals are only good to kill ghasts (though if you don't mind loosing some XP, a pit fiend can kick their butt).

Putting the cheating issue aside, I guess the only loss is challenge. Installing Xyx's better AI as Littiz suggested is a very interesting option though I guess it only counteract the shield item.

It seems having the bonus merchant patch is a common thing among the forum members but isn't it plain cheating?
Where's the challenge if you can have great items the developers of the game didn't approve?

About the Fael guy, I remember I did something to him (either blow his cover or killed him) and 3 wizards showed up but that was a bad game, and when I reloaded I couldn't repeat it.
Is it random or a bug?

What I'd like to see in featured games:

1. Feedbacks when using items. This is especially helpful when using keys - it is not always obvious where have you used a key and which one.

2. NPC action status - in the heat of battle you may give your mage an order to cast a spell and before he finishes ...

Talking about the final battle with Bodhi...
Do I miss anything important if none of my characters die?
I know I have to take the hearts to Amaunator's temple, but is it only an irregular resurrection procedure?

I don't have ToB and I'm wondering what's the mechanism that keeps your party from SoA to ToB.
How do you keep your newly-gained stats when using the tears at the end of SoA? I didn't have time to save.
