Buying Decisions

A couple things. First, I'm looking for a monitor. I want a 19" flat crt and I want it to be around $200. I've seen a few that fall into this category, but I'm not sure of their quality. I would like to have at least 1280x1024 resolution at 80hz. Also, what dot pitch would you recommend as a max (as ...

I'm with thug on this one I think. I've been here a long time, but I mostly posted in the gaming forums before under some long-forgotten name. After that I left and when I came back I just kind of read a lot of it. I learned a whole lot and eventually I felt like I wanted to take part in some of the ...

@Chanak, the apathy doesn't particularly surprise me either, but I still find it sad.

Oh, and since you're speaking of taxes I thought I'd mention the Boston Tea Party. One of the (many) reasons for the Revolutionary war was high taxes. The rest fell under too much government control as well. If ...

The sad thing is most people don't seem to care anyways. For instance, many people who strongly opposed the war in Iraq originally now don't care. In fact they barely seem to remember.

Anyways, I agree with pretty much everything posted and don't have much else to add, so...

Yeah I was in a situation somewhat like this before. I started having feelings for a really good friend. After about 2 months of a horrible feeling (probably the one you have now), I talked to my friend and he said to just tell her. So I did. At first it was kind of strange, but about two months ...

@fable that's where democracy is supposed to take us, though. It seems that more people (or at least most of us here) would like to see same-sex marriages recongnized in our own areas. If this holds true throughout a given area then I think the government should comply to the public's wishes. After ...

I think that sexual orientation should have no effect on marriage. As for adoption, that is a tough one for me and one that I've not thought about a lot. However, I do think that if a gay couple can raise a child as well as a straight couple then there should be no problem. I'm just not sure if ...

@CE no worries, I didn't feel targeted or anything. However I include myself in the category you described, so I felt I should respond.

And what you say about maturity may be the truth. I'm 18, but I've been told by many people who didn't know each other that I act more like someone in their mid-30 ...

Just think, Hillary would sit in the seat that Bill performed some of his "acts" in. This could get interesting. :D

And I say Bill is labelled
The First Friend to all the women out there

Wait, maybe he'd be Vice President. The Clinton's rule the country. ;)

It seems the more you analyze things the worse they seem. I consider myself intelligent, and I am most certainly unhappy and unsocialble lol. For me personally, a lot of both of those feelings stem from the fact that the people around just don't seem to realize the things I do. They're more ...

Main point: America is doing fairly well in it's War on Terror, however it can probably never be won. It goes through why this is and how they are acheiving it, plus a section on al Qaeda specifically that says they've fallen apart structurally but are very much intact when it comes to creating ...

Turning point. The Pakistanis also recovered a trove of materials in Zubaydah's safe house--CDs, address books, financial records, a satellite phone. "It felt like the working documents of an organization," says a senior intelligence source. "Zubaydah's capture felt like a turning point." By the ...

Half-Dead Bob. By early 2002, America and its allies had locked up nearly 1,000 al Qaeda members and supporters. Planeloads of captives from Afghanistan soon filled the holding pens of Camp X-Ray, the hastily built prison at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Some inmates left a lasting ...

Bits and pieces. Each day, the CTC took in some 2,500 cables from CIA stations overseas; each week, some 17,000 new bits of intelligence arrived. And that didn't count the huge hauls from Afghanistan. One veteran case officer said the amounts were measured "literally in terabytes"--a terabyte is ...

"Like the Nazis." The war in Afghanistan caught al Qaeda's leaders off guard. Bin Laden's top people were convinced the United States would respond to 9/11 with merely a volley of cruise missiles, interrogations later showed. By late 2001, the U.S.-led assault had taken out al Qaeda's camps and ...

This was posted on another forum without a link, so sorry but I'm gonna post it all. It's a really good read if you take the time. I'm interested to hear what you all have to say, especially those who say the war on terror is failing.

And how long would it take the kidnappers to figure out that the kids would be outfitted with these chips? How many children would we find with additional wounds due to someone trying to cut a chip out of them? And I definately wouldn't want my child to have a chip. I would personally feel bad about ...
