Walkthrough
The only thing you'll need to do on this level of the mine is pick up a piece of the Staff of Oswulf (#4). Once you've picked up all eight pieces, you should return to Derf Strongarm in the
Temple of Tyr.
1 - Freshly Dug Areas
If you dig in these places, then you'll find a few gems. If you have a dwarf in your party, then you'll find twice as many gems.
2 - Monster Lairs
At each of these lairs, you'll face six monsters of a particular type -- Centipedes, Cockatrices, Displacer Beasts, Giant Spiders, Minotaurs, or Mobats -- and at the end of the battle you'll receive two random items as a reward.
3 - Umber Hulks
At these places you'll get attacked by Umber Hulks. They'll drop a random item or two when they die.
4 - Dead Adventurer / Staff Piece
If you search the dead adventurer here, then you'll find 10 Arrows +2, a Composite Long Bow +2, a Long Sword +3, Plate Mail +3, a Ring of Fire Resistance, a Shield +3, 15 gems, and 2 pieces of jewelry. You'll also find a piece of the Staff of Oswulf (a quest item that won't show up in your inventory), assuming you previously picked up the Ring of Tyr from Derf Strongarm in the
Temple of Tyr.
Exits
- Wheel lift. The wheel lift will allow you to visit any of the mine's ten other levels or return to the
Ruins.
