Walkthrough
The only thing you'll need to do on this level of the mine is pick up a piece of the Staff of Oswulf (#3). Once you've picked up all eight pieces, you should return to Derf Strongarm in the
Temple of Tyr.
1 - Umber Hulks
At these places you'll get attacked by Umber Hulks. They'll drop a random item or two when they die.
2 - Monster Lairs
At each of these lairs, you'll face ten monsters of a particular type -- Centipedes, Displacer Beasts, Minotaurs, Mobats, or Phase Spiders -- and at the end of the battle you'll receive two random items plus 30 gems as a reward.
3 - Wyvern Lair / Staff Piece
In this lair you'll encounter eight Wyverns. When they die they'll drop Boots of Speed, a Dart of the Hornet's Nest, a Mace +4, a Potion of Invisibility, a Ring of Protection +2, a Trident +3, 5 gems, and 5 pieces of jewelry. You'll also find a piece of the Staff of Oswulf (a quest item that won't show up in your inventory), assuming you previously picked up the Ring of Tyr from Derf Strongarm in the
Temple of Tyr.
4 - Freshly Dug Area
If you dig in this place, then you'll find a few gems. If you have a dwarf in your party, then you'll find twice as many gems.
Exits
- Wheel lift. The wheel lift will allow you to visit any of the mine's ten other levels or return to the
Ruins.
