It would seem that you just have very little HP and as tearing out the eye causes a little damage, it simply kills you. I haven't heard of anything else that could cause this.

I have to say that even with my e8400 the game did feel a bit choppy when running it at 1920x1200, so it might be that those areas do need a lot of oomph for some reason. It would be weird if a 3GHz dual core processor wouldn't be able to run an 11-year-old game though.
I failed to mention in my ...

I wanted to do another playthrough, since it's been quite a while since the last, but I'm encountering a very annoying bug: the game crashes at very specific points. Namely, leaving Mebbeth's house and right after talking with Yvana in the museum in the lower ward. The first crash can be ...

That might be true, but as fable pointed out earlier, if you understand logic then it's much easier to figure out whether someone is talking sense or trying to pull one on you. You see faulty reasoning and start asking questions, that's the hope at least (maybe then people would also be less ...

We are talking about the same thing then. While these types of errors certainly appears in politics I believe there are other types that are more frequent.
"Immigrants come here to abuse our welfare"
"Homosexuality is not natural"
"If you live in sweden you should embrace swedish values"
These ...

I run an e8400 and an 4850, both at stock. They tear through DA:O. All settings at max (at 1650x1050) and I haven't noticed ANY stuttering at all, not even during heavy combat. I sadly don't have any FPS numbers though.

I've been playing Left 4 Dead 2 and it's pretty great. I never played the original, so the whole concept is new to me and I'm loving it. Plenty of different modes to keep you entertained, some requiring over an hour to complete, others just a few minutes.

I'm sorry, but "well do it better then" is a horrible argument that says nothing and might be heard on a playground. I don't need to be a master chef to say that a dish tastes horrible or a movie star to point out how horrible Steven Seagal is.
If you want to refute someone's claims then pick apart ...

I say sometimes, if implemented properly.
I know 'if implemented properly' has become a sort of a buzz phrase when it's concerning level scaling and that to actually do it would be a coding nightmare, BUT:
- It would actually help create a more believable and immersive world and/or story.
- It ...

I like to make a mage with above average damage output, but with some skills/spells that hinder/demoralize/curse the target. I'm not sure what school that'd be in the classic DnD setting. Nothing wrong with a good old fireball though, that cliché is so popular for a reason

Actually, I think Bethesda creates at best mediocre RPGs. Oblivion had one redeeming "quality": its graphics. For the rest, it's an oversimplified, bland game.
I truly hope Oblivion was the exception and not the rule. Even though I don't expect it to be as good as 1 & 2, I still hope Fallout 3 ...

Why act so surprised? You may like those games but that doesn't mean everyone will like them. ;) And I agree with Domi Ash. If you don't like a particular game, why force yourself to continue playing it?
It's still sort of an odd place to find someone who doesn't like EITHER of those two ...

I'm not sure I see a problem here. I can't recall having ANY trouble with the difficulty of encounters in any decent RPG I've played (the one exception that comes to mind is Gothic III, but that was just due to poor coding .. I'm also not sure if it qualifies as 'decent').
The whole point of this ...

I played with the latest patch. Encountered only a few bugs during the entire play through. One was a major graphics glitch, but it was easily fixed by playing around with some settings. Nothing game breaking.

Well, you could try games like the Gothic series (Gothics 1 to 3). Quite customisable if you can stomach the horrendous combat system and, for the third game, the numerous bugs and glitches that plagued it.
OT: Just to point out that some of us think the combat system was bloody brilliant :)

As for my favorite, none. I detest, despise, and want to destroy the name "Massive Mutiplayer Online" in video games as it's never anything but crap. World of Warcraft had some cool, even if cliche, quests, and it got boring so everybody started killing each other. Same with most every other MMO ...

I say nay.
Bought the game and couldn't get past the first few minutes. First of all i couldn't get the character to look the way i wanted (because the char at the creation screen and the char in game don't look that much alike), but that was a minor issue. The bigger problem i couldn't get over ...
