I always thought that a minimum you need to have a least one skill point in a skill in order to be able to use it. Regardless of modifying attribute. I remember times when I was going to pickpocket somebody using my Rogue, but I hadn't put any skill points in PP, so it was greyed out as an option ...

I dropped the Rogue level, it was there for the Hide ability, but then I remembered I can get that with Ranger.

Male Drow Lawfully Evil
Ranger 1 / Dreadmaster of Bane 13 / Necromancer 16
12 / 13 / 14 / 18 / 18 / 5
Small Blades/ Great Sword, Bow
Skills: Alchemy, Bluff, Concentration, Hide, Knowledge ...

Experience Penalty

In the past, I've always avoided this, but I'm considering a new solo character. The build is going to be something like this:

Male Drow Lawfully Evil
Rogue 1 / Ranger 1 / Dreadmaster of Bane 13 / Necromancer 15
12 / 13 / 14 / 18 / 18 / 5
Dual Small Blades / Great Sword, Bow

I'm going to start out ...

IMHO, GC is only useful in the Prologue and maybe Chapter 1. After that it's pretty much useless unless you've got spellcasters that can cast area spells enough to almost kill the monsters around your character. I've really only experienced GC against goblins in Targos. I had a fighter with 18 ...

@Erenor,
If you get a greater cleave hit, it does not say "PC gets extra attack from Greater Cleave", it just says the same thing. Also, as others have said, in order for greater cleave to work, you have to have atleast 3 baddies w/in reach. The first kill is normal kill, second kill is cleave and ...

Sneak Attack: To use Sneak Attack, attack an enemy's back when you have a melee weapon equipped. Your first successful attack at the creature's back will do normal damage plus 1-6 points of damage with an additional 1-6 points at 3rd level and every two levels thereafter.

Yuan-Ti Temple Treasury (Spoilers)

Ok, I've got my Monk wearing the innate robe and strolling through the Yuan-Ti's temple and I've talked to the cook and the Assassians about the Treasury, but I'm still not able to open it. I'm not sure what I'm missing, but here is the code that I've tried to use based on what I've been told: 10-3 ...

For me, Wizard has to be a Male Drow b/c of favored class, increase to dex & int and saves. That being said, the next thing you look at is what stats you need. A build doesn't work if you require maximum of too many stats. I prefer to try and keep max stats to like 3, beyond that I think it gets a ...

@Damned,
Since you state that you are new to this genere of pc games, I would advised taking 6 characters at least through the prologue and chapters 1 & 2. That will give you a good feel for what characters you'll use most. Here is one choice:

1) Paladin (main tank)
2) Fighter 4/Barbarian X (2nd ...

@Fardaza,
Yes, that party can finish IWD2 as is (meaning single classed characters). Since you are not planning on playing HOF w/ them, you'll be fine. A lot of the threads on multiclassing are for those are who planning on playing Normal then HOF mode, in which case you'll max your character's ...

Not sure if it's a requirement or not, but did you pick up the two notes back at the beginning of the area? One of them talks about the queen R. I wouldn't think you would need it to open the door, but just curious.

Did you kill all of the jellies in the lower part? I actually killed off all the hook horrors and fire beetles before talking to him and accepting the quest. Then couldn't figure out how to get past it. I then remembered about the jellies and went back to slay them. After that, the quest was ...

If you have your rogue backstab, that target and everything else in sight will lock ...

That's one of the things I like about IWD2. It requires a bit more thought than just a run in and hack everybody up. You have to change your tactics according to the battle at hand. Also, party creation will make or break you. The difficult of the game depends on your party. 6 members doesn't always ...
