I've done well with balanced combat skills, usually Melee just ahead of Ranged.

The trick is knowing when to use which skill. Ranged is handy for wounding opponents that can't reach you or when they are approaching you. Though sometimes heavy damage ranged weapons are handy close up, only to ...

Spoiler:
You don't have to kill the gargoyle for the Tremere Haven, if you also have the quest from Issac for the gargoyle, then you can persuade it to ally with him, then lie to Strauss, telling him it was taken care of. If this were a longer term roleplaying game or a table top campaign, I would ...

I have had success with a melee/ranged balanced character, though usually my melee was a point or two ahead of the ranged. There are many different encounters in the game, some where melee is important, others where ranged works better. The trick is to recognize these situations and act accordingly.

Do you get any video stutters or other errors? Have you seen a vampire death yet, any problems there? Try setting video settings to minimum. To me, it sounds like your video card is not up to the task of running the game, though it also could be too little ram.

Try doing melee attacks in the direction of the crossbar. That is what got it open for me.

Most likely its a chef or caterer who prepared meals for the staff durning crunch times. With gaming companies who have a bankroll, this is common to do this, keeping their staff on track.

The sparkly stream rising from an item is the inspection skill at work. Kind of pointless IMHO, though it does point out a few of the more hidden items.

In both encounters with Andrei there is a semi safe location to attack from.

The basement of King's Way:
There is a table across the room across from the bottom of the stairs. It is very difficult for the headrunners to attack you there (though they can get the occaisonal hit in), so they usually ...

There is also the weightless hair which flies up when decending in an elevator. The fem Malkavian has a ponytail that does this. I imagine certain types of clothing will do this as well.

No reason to go rabid there.

Maybe I posted it for more than just your sole benefit, CC.

This topic had been brought up more than once on these forums, I just consolidated them into one post.

The violation is from when a girl walks up to you, recognizing you from where you were alive. This happens the first time you leave Issac's office and past the restaurant.

When she makes a phone call is when the violation happens. If you somehow prevent her from making that call, no points are ...

My first run with a Malkavian, I used level 3 obfuscate and had no problems. I made sure when placing the cameras, there was no one in the area. Haven't gotten there on my second run as a Tremere, but should be there soon. It is an optional side quest, so don't let it get you down.

Took me about 60 to 70 hours to complete the first run, but I spent a lot of time talking to everyone for information and reran a few quests. I only peeked at walkthroughs when I had been stuck at a location for some time and could not figure out what to do. I think this was 2 or 3 times.

If you ...

The game does take place over several days, maybe even a few weeks. There is no daytime, though one time it comes close near the end. I think every major quest counts as one day/night.

When you enter, go to the far end of the counter and crouch. The thugs will start attacking, 1 or 2 will come towards you, spreading them out. The cook will cower so he won't see you doing any tricks.
