yeh just run in and grab it, using pause, unpause etc. and a haste spell helps, and invisibility too. I never even killed the lich, just grabbed it and took off.

you might want to consider making a pure fighter class, or perhaps paladin. Because if you dual those guys early like around
9 or 10 like most people do, level 9 fighter abilities won't help much in late game.

if you had made your half-orc fighter a barbarian, you get more hit points even. berserkers normally use a 1d10 to roll hit pionts, barbarians roll 1d12. I'm guessing an orc with 19 constitution gets even more bonus to his hps as well.
