C'mon - its a game, and a game with an awful lot of flexibility. You can "challenge yourself" and try to solo at the hardest difficulty with the weakest class - and that can be fun ...

I thought I read about a way to dual class, export, start a new game and import that dualed character and the game would dump a new 2.5 million XP on you - but I can't figure out how to do it and I can't find where I read it. Does anybody know what I'm talking ...

Does anyone know of a place where all of this info is compiled? I want to know what you start with for the various classes when you start a new character in ToB. I got screwed last night when I built a ftr/mage/thief with a str of 9 because I figured I'd get the girdle of strength! Doh! Now ...

Nope - no backup - just those three. No magic of any kind.

My computer is on the low end and has trouble when everybody is casting spells all over the place, so I thought I'd try to minimize spells on the screen.

Easiest solo (imho) of BG1 is with a thief - you can just hide from everything. I got through it all (not ToSC expansion) with only 6 kills by the time I hit the final battle. Some of those kills were not even necessary.

The reason I say "easiest" is because of the sneaking - you don't have to ...

Bard - Mebbe a Skald. His high level bard song is fairly powerful, he makes a good backup spell caster, he can fight in a pinch, and he gets a few cool magic items nobody else can use.

If he is the mage in High Hedge, he drops poor loot and is a fairly easy kill. Better to pick his pockets for the potions.

I get all involved in the story lines when I make up my own party - comes from a background of old-school DnD. I like to make up a party that has a reason to be together, not just an efficient collection of classes. Make up a story - who are these people? Why are they together? How are they likely ...

Not much advantage to the knowledge, really. Just know that lower AC is better, lower ThAC0 is better, higher hit points are better, etc. I don't think there is much you can do to sqeeze advantage out of the knowledge. The whole AD&D rules conversion thing is really just a structure for the game ...

She consistently had the best AC in my group, she has lots of hit points, has the THAC0 of a pure fighter, comes with good weapons, and has those nifty special abilities. Plus, I play a paladin most often, so Mazzy was a shoe-in. She does require some strength ...

You do get to kill him and get your stuff back.

My favorite trick is to dual class him right before you lose him, and put all his weapon proficiencies in something he doesn't have.

I think the bastard sword fixation is a hold over from old AD&D - it was a favored weapon due to its statistics in the game.
