Racial Enemy

Forget worrying about ogres spiders etc, and sort out your strength.

Unless you're some sort of nut who likes getting beat up in every fight you have, get you strength up to 18/**...

Then probably agree with spiders, since you find them through out the game at varing strengths and ...

Once and only once when coming back from the zombie infested farm to the map with BG bridge on, the game set me at the far end on the bridge thus allowing me access into BG city. I've tried it many times since and always ended up at the "correct" end of the bridge.

From what I remember I promptly ...

Thanks folks

Nice to know that what I have assumed for some years is more or less the correct action. I tend to have Kivan or Minsc improved proficency for Bow shot then give them Braclets of archery and Bow of marksmanship.

And Thx for reminding me about the point about attacking mages and ...

Let the Arrows Fly

Would appreciate a bit of advice on arrows just to check that I understand the different types correctly.

Once you get to the city of Baldur's Gate and you have a fair bit of cash there is a good choice of arrows to buy, however I guess I have always assumed how they work rather than knowing for ...

Only ever use a party of four, usually 2 of my own and 2 from the game, no problem at all.

Just have somewhere in mind for dumping scrolls and the like so that you don't fill your characters back pack up too much.

Have fun.

Probably a "statement of the obvious", did you try loading a different previous saved game? Tends to slove the glitches I get from time to time.

Out of interest what happens if you tell Scar you can't do it, is it end of game?

A word of advise if you're just starting out. Always have 3 or so saved games then if you make a mistake you don't have to go too far back in time. Also save before going from one map to another especially when you reach the Cloakwood as you can get ambushed by some pretty hefthy monsters and you ...

Plus the Dulag's Tower one could be the tricky one with the level of party I have, tips on Battle Horrors with low level party would be appreciated.

Day 20ish and reached the catacombs below Candlekeep. Dulag's Tower and Pirates Cave next before going back to city ...

How Quick?

I'm sure a number of us have played the game "a few times" shall we say.

I'm currently crashing htrough the game purely to collect the 7 tomes and was wondering how quick has anyone done BG TotSC in terms of days in the game (not the time it takes for us to sit there and play it).

I'm on day 15 ...

Excellent items them arrows especially when you have more money than you know what to do with later in the game...And when your bowman can fire 2 per round do considerable damage. But come at a price as you've found if used in the wrong fight.

Best advice to give is always have ...

Halflings

I'm currently playing a halfling fighter thief that I'm thinking of taking to ToB. I'm showing my age here, going back the odd year or two to when I played Dungeons and Dragons, I have it in my mind that Halflings could only go up to level 8 or 10.

Does anyone know if that is the case with ...

No Reloads

Stats are very good, Fighter thief started at 94 and druid 93, yes I'm said, I sit and reroll for a couple of hours till I get the score I want.
Started game again, picking very carefully through the maps to go to, and my fighter thief has pick pocketed Dizzits +3 scimitar which has ...

Thanks, I'll let you know how I get on. However I suspect that my Druid that I was relying on as a front row fighter could be a bit short on lives later in the game.

No reloads

I was going to put this as a private message to Wise Grimwald but thought others may be interested.

Just started a no reloads game, intend to use only four characters. Can I just ask, when a character goes up a level do you accept the first score for hit points or have you reloaded ...

I usually play with just 2 chatacters for a while then uping to four which means my biggest problem seems to be carrying round enough stuff, mind you that's usually because I'm greedy and trying to carry everything of value to then sell. I still haven't got round to using any of the "green" cleric ...

No Reloads

I guess I hardly reload a game when I run through because probably like yourself I've played the game that many times you know where everything is. But in terms of no reloads one of the biggest things to ...

Potions

No, just like the shops that don't readily resupply with enchanted arrows etc.
Besides is your cleric on strike or something and doesn't want to cast spells. Personally apart from the occational strength potion hardly use a potion. Far cheaper using spells!

I take it that you always have at least three saved games and rotate them. When this fault has happened to me, which is only two three times in the "years" I've played BG, I've just loaded an older saved game and away you go. Files get corrupted at some stage and as long as you've kept up with you ...

BG1 v BG2

You've just given me hardest decision of the week to make. Whimped out and went for undecided purely because, since I am still playing both games so many years after their release, they both must be excellent games.
