Background

You'll trigger this quest by reading the note "Contract: Stolen Sword" on the notice board in Kaer Trolde in Ard Skellig (#1).


Walkthrough

From the note you'll learn that thieves recently broke into Crach's treasure chamber and stole his family sword Kuliu, but were seen sneaking away to the south. The note will promise a reward to whoever returns the sword.

You'll stumble across the thieves' camp to the southeast (#2). After killing the renegades there, you'll find a Thief's Journal on one of the corpses. The journal will mention that the thieves are planning on selling Kuliu to a fence named Gimre at the ruined fortress west of Fyresdal.

At the fortress (#3), you'll encounter another group of renegades, and you'll find another Thief's Journal. This time the journal will indicate that Gimre is dead, but that the thieves are on their way to the whale graveyard, where they're planning on having the sword shipped to Novigrad.

At the cemetery (#4), you'll find yet another group of renegades, and they'll have yet another Thief's Journal -- but they'll also have Kuliu. So to complete the quest, you'll just need to deliver the sword to Olaf, who you'll find on the walkway over the main gate to Kaer Trolde's town (#1). You'll receive 20 crowns and 75 xp when you do.
