Walkthrough

For this quest you'll need to convince Emperor Emhyr to release the sorceress Fringilla Vigo from his custody. To help you out, Yennefer will give you a Letter from Yennefer to Emhyr var Emreis, which will "politely yet with great insistence" encourage Emhyr to do what he's told.

Conveniently, Emhyr will be in the middle of attacking the Skellige Isles, so you'll find him and his fleet anchored off the coast of Undvik (#1). To get on board Emhyr's ship, you'll have to swim out to it and then climb on board using the anchor rope. However, if you try to do this during the day, then the soldiers on the other ships will spot you and riddle you with arrows, which will hurt no matter what your level is. So you should head out during the night and avoid the lights from the other ships. If you need to, then you can swim under the lights -- that is, underwater -- to avoid detection.

On board Emhyr's ship, you'll immediately see Emhyr, and when you show him Yennefer's letter, he'll hand over Fringilla. Fringilla will then create a portal to the Kaer Trolde docks (#2), and when you go through you'll complete the quest and earn 200 xp.
