We wrote this walkthrough using version 1.0 (the retail release) of the game.
Quest walkthroughs only contain information relevant to the quest. For more information about each location, please refer to the
Locations section.
The game engine for Book III is nearly identical to the engine used for Book II, and so almost all of the
Gameplay Notes for Book II still apply here.
If you put at least 1 point into Unarmed Combat, then you can bash containers and doors with your bare hands without taking any damage.
The Foraging skill is different in Book III than in Book II. Now it only triggers when you're walking around outside (rather than resting). You'll find food and water with up to 5 points in the skill. You'll need 25 points to find the most powerful reagents
(
Auricflax and
Ectoplasm).
The Reveal Map spell is different in Book III than in Book II. Instead of just adding to the Cartography skill, it now shows you the map around your character, with higher ranks of the spell showing more detailed information.
Lightning spells do more damage when it's raining.
There are six trainers in the game:
- Alywin in the
Elderoak Forest (after completing the quest
The Meaning of the Note): Bow Weapons, Cartography, Foraging
- Leisle in
Rockhammer (after completing her quest): Lore, Mercantile, Pick Locks
- Madam Gilda in the
Southern Boglands (after completing her quest): Alchemy, Medicine, Meditation
- Kirk Strongarm in
Moonrise: Heavy Armor, Light Armor, Shields
- Shrock in
Old Moonrise (after acquiring a permit): Bludgeoning Weapons, Cleaving Weapons, Swords
- Valx Grayraven in
Old Moonrise (after completing his quest): Elemental Magick
You'll find red ceramic jars while exploring the world. These containers can only be opened using
Powder Kegs.
Weapons and armor now have a skill rank requirement along with a skill requirement.
Any container can be used to store your excess equipment.
