Walkthrough

If you have the Normandy Crash Site DLC installed, then you'll receive a message on your private terminal on board the Normandy asking you to go to the crash site and do two things: determine the fate of some of the lost members of your crew, and pick a spot for a memorial.

You'll find the crash site on the planet Alchera (Amada / Omega Nebula). You'll have to scan the planet to find the "anomaly" where the crash site is located. You can do this by scanning the planet normally, and following the white line on the targeting reticule of the scanner. The white line will lead you to a white circle on the planet surface. If you launch a probe onto the circle, then you'll be allowed to land on the planet and visit the crash site.

The only thing you'll need to do at the crash site is place the memorial. The interface will show you where this is allowed (generally next to surviving parts of the ship), and how to do it. Once you've met this minimum requirement of the mission, you'll be allowed to take the Shuttle back to the Normandy and receive your end-mission reward (3750 credits).

But of course there's more you can do. You'll find 20 dog tags scattered around the site. 16 of them will be sitting on the ground (T), and they'll shine brightly, making them easy to spot. You'll find the remaining four dog tags inside of crates (C). You'll have to damage the crates (by shooting them or punching them) to break them open. Each dog tag you pick up will grant you 10 xp.

Besides the dog tags, you can also pick up some Element Zero (E), your old N7 helmet (N), and Pressly's datapad (inside the Galaxy Map). You won't be able to wear your helmet, but it will show up in your cabin on the Normandy, sitting on your desk.

Note: We've heard people claim that they've found 21 dog tags instead of 20. We've never found 21, so we're not sure if there's a bug that sometimes doubles a tag, or an extremely well-hidden tag somewhere, or something else.
