Oh Shit! (Quest Automatically Given): The scattered pieces of the mutant general have grown to form this... this BLOB. You've got to hurt this creature so that you can escape. HINT: The tentacles can be destroyed, but the eyes are really its weak points.


ATTIS

You find Attis in the core. He's pretty ticked because the chemical compound he was hoping would restore fertility to the Mutants has turned out to be ineffectual. Taking the compound has turned him into a Mutant superfreak, though. The fight with him is appropriately tough (if you failed to stock up enough ammo, as I did). I burned about 700 heavy energy ammo rounds through his first two incarnations.

When you get him down to half health, he mutates into a bigger version of himself and restores all his health. When you almost have him killed again, he mutates again into a barely recognizable form (something akin to the final bosses of the Resident Evil games). Go around and shoot at the tentacles growing out of the floor until you get blocked off by the blob. Then, shoot the tentacles until the eye opens. Shoot the eye until the health bar is depleted. You'll have to do this several times.

After killing the eyes, you have to fight the blob's mouth. If you run out of ammo here, you're pretty much screwed, because you won't be able to get close enough to the mouth to damage it much with a melee weapon. You'll expend at least 500 light energy rounds taking the mouth out, unless, of course, you have the Meat Cannon or Red Ryder BB Gun. When the blob is no more, you receive 600 experience points.


EXIT

You should be done at this point, right? Well, that's not the case. You need to go through the door behind the blob mouth to enter vault level three, mutated.
