Ontarom is located in the Newton system of the Kepler Verge cluster. You'll want to check the underground facility at area #5 to investigate the "UNC: Dead Scientists" assignment.


1 - Arrival

Your drop out of the Normandy will land you here in the northwest section of this hazard-free planet.


2 - Gold Deposit

Survey this Gold deposit to get one step closer to finishing the "Heavy Metals" section of the "UNC: Valuable Minerals" assignment and to earn a reasonable amount of experience and credits.


3 - Palladium Deposit

Survey this Palladium deposit to get one step closer to finishing the "Heavy Metals" section of the "UNC: Valuable Minerals" assignment and to earn a reasonable amount of experience and credits.


4 - Underground Facility

Three Mercenaries and two Mercenary Snipers guard the exterior of this facility, while several more Mercenaries and Mercenary Snipers guard its interior. When you reach the station's back room, you'll witness a soldier named Corporal Toombs holding a gun to a scientist's head. He claims that the scientists purposely let his unit get wiped out by Thresher Maws so they could study them. Toombs is the only one left and he wants the scientist to pay for years of anguish.

For Paragon points, you can start negotiating with Toombs and then make a successful Charm ("This isn't justice.") check to get him to lower his weapon. The scientist will then be picked up and hauled off to prison. For Renegade points, you can either shoot Toombs or make a successful Intimidate ("Let me do it.") check to execute the scientist yourself. Either way, this will conclude the "UNC: Dead Scientists" assignment. All that's left is to give a final report to Admiral Hackett.

It's worth noting that it's best to loot all the facility's containers before confronting Toombs and the scientist, as you'll be removed from the station when the dialogue ends. There are seven containers in all: an aid station, an upgrade kit, a malfunctioning object, a medical kit, a secure storage locker, and two locked crates.


5 - Crashed Probe

As usual, you can salvage a couple of upgrades off this abandoned space probe.


6 - Turian Corpse

One of thirteen insignias needed for the "UNC: Turian Insignias" assignment can be recovered from this corpse. This one in particular is the Bostra Outpost insignia printed on the cover of an ancient paper book.
