The Protocol Droid is a robot intended for assisting crew members and performing menial tasks around the Von Braun. They have been programmed with a helpful, courteous personality, but due to Xerxes' tampering and the poor build quality of the Droids, they are liable to explode on contact. This makes for a suicidal enemy capable of high damage output. You'll see Protocol Droids from Engineering all the way up to the Command Deck of the Von Braun, and most commonly in Recreation.

Strategy: The Protocol Droid is an enemy you'll grow to hate very quickly. While not the most dangeorus enemy as far as raw damage output goes, they have a habit of appearing in places where you'd least expect them, and sneaking up behind you to deliver an explosive welcome when your attention is turned to other things. Your best defense against them is vigilance - keep your ears open for their distinctive footsteps and cheerful greetings to avoid being taken off guard.
