Background

If you talk to Lena in the Whirling-in-Rags (#1) on Day 2 or later, then she'll mention that her husband Morell is missing. If you agree to look for him, then you'll trigger this task.


Walkthrough

Lena will tell you that Morell and his assistant Gary are cryptozoologists -- scientists studying animal species so rare that they might actually be fictitious -- and that the duo was supposed to be back on Monday night (Day 1). When you ask for details about the two men, Lena will reveal that they crossed the canal bridge into Martinaise West, where they were planning to set some traps for the fabled Insulindian phasmid, a creature that resembles a reed.

If you go to the water lock (#2), then you'll see that it's out of service, which is probably why Morell and Gary haven't made their way back yet. When you relay this information to Lena, she'll be relived, but she'll still ask you to look for them.

On Day 3, you'll be able to use the control panel next to the water lock to close it. This will allow you to cross the canal and enter Martinaise West. You'll find Morell and Gary on the western side, past the two large buildings (#3).

To complete the task, you'll just need to talk to Morell and mention that Lena sent you. This will earn you 70 xp. However, Morell will tell you that he can't return to Lena until he's checked all of his phasmid traps. If you offer to help, then you'll trigger the task Inspect the Traps, and Morell and Gary will begin making their way to the Whirling-in-Rags (but not arrive there until you've checked all of the traps). When you talk to Lena with Gary in attendance, she'll thank you for your help, and she'll give you an Eight-Eyed Teratorn Tie.
