Background
After interrogating the deserter on the
Island (#1), you'll have to arrest him. However, while you're trying to figure out how to transport him to the mainland, the Insulindian Phasmid will show up, triggering this task.
Walkthrough
When you meet the phasmid (#2), you'll be given an Electrochemistry check. If you accepted pheromones from Morell earlier in the game, then this will be a "medium" check (and getting the thick coating from him will give you a +1 bonus for the check). Otherwise, it'll be an "impossible" check that you'll always fail.
If you fail the Electrochemistry check, then the phasmid will run away. Otherwise, you'll be able to interact with it and, if you pass a "medium" Inland Empire check, even talk to it. If you approach and calm the phasmid, then Kim (but not Cuno) will be able to take a picture of it, which will help you during the task
The Return.
At the end of your encounter (regardless of how it goes), the phasmid will run away. Then when you return to the deserter, you'll discover that without the aid / symbiosis of the phasmid, he can barely function, which will prevent you from moving him anywhere. This will complete the task and earn you 10 xp.
