Background

You'll trigger this quest by reading the note "Contract: Griffin in the Highlands" on the notice board in Crow's Perch in Velen West (#1). The note will only appear during the quest Master Armorers.


Walkthrough

From the note you'll learn than a griffin has been spotted in the hills to the north of Crow's Perch. When you head to the site (#2) and search it using your witcher senses, you'll spot a corpse plus bloody entrails leading to the north. When you follow the trail, it will take you to a nest where you'll spot a level 26 archgriffin (#3). Killing the griffin will net you an Archgriffin Acid Gland (which you'll need for the quest Master Armorers), an Archgriffin Mutagen, and an Archgriffin Trophy.

To complete the quest, you'll just need to show the trophy to the Quartermaster at Crow's Perch. He'll reward you with the diagram for Tracker's Trousers and 25 crowns.
