You'll receive this quest from Ranger Jackson at the Mojave Outpost.


Walkthrough

Ranger Jackson will tell you that the outpost is in a bind. Caravans can't leave because the roads are too dangerous, but the outpost can't send out any men to deal with the problem because of orders from California. Thus, Jackson will ask you to eliminate the creatures "crawling the asphalt," and he'll offer you some supplies for your effort.

All you'll need to do to complete the quest is follow the road leading east out of the outpost and then kill the seven giant ants (including two soldier ants) that you'll encounter at the bottom of the hill. If you can't find the ants, then just make this quest the active quest in your Pip-Boy, and the ants will be marked on your map.

After dealing with the ants, when you return to Ranger Jackson (and ask him about your reward), you'll receive 100 xp, 100 caps, NCR fame, a Service Rifle, 72 5.56mm, Armor Piercing rounds, two Caravan Lunches, and two Weapon Repair Kits.
