Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!
In this part of the city you'll try to save Grand Dukes "Belt" and Liia Jannath from Sarevok's plans. You'll need an invitation to enter the palace, however, which can be found on Slythe in the Undercellar.
1- SORREL:
A member of the Flaming Fists who is still loyal to Duke Eltan and who doesn't arrest you. He tells you that Scar got assassinated and that Duke Eltan is ill. Apparently Angelo, a man who often visits the Iron Throne Headquarters (Southern part of BG), has taken control of the Fist.
2- THREE OLD KEGS:
Delthyr: If you have talked with him in the Eastern part of Baldur's Gate you'll meet him once more on the first floor of this inn. He tells you to follow Rashad, Duke Eltan's healer, each night when he leaves the Flaming Fist Castle to see where he goes. I didn't push the investigation further and there is no need to. Rashad is a Greater Doppleganger and you just need to talk with him to make him reveal his identity.
3- BILL:
A Flaming Fist Mercenary who asks you an invitation to let you access Sarevok's coronation as a Grand Duke. Such invitation can be found on Slythe in the Undercellar.
4- DUCHAL PALACE:
This palace is the BEST place for thievery you'll ever find. I was so excited plundering it that I'm still shaking when I remember it. Sarevok's coronation takes place on the first floor, so if you want to burglar the palace you should hide in shadows one of your thieves or have him drink a Potion of Invisibility. Then visit the basement and the upper floors and loot them with impunity!
Basement:
There are several Flaming Fists around which are best be avoided. Some will even attack you! Your best course of action is to remain hidden in the shadows and to explore the place. The treasures are all kept in a chest in a small room just south of the stairs. The lock is hard to pick but it is worth the trouble as you'll find: 9560 gp. (you've read well!), King's Tears (worth 2000 gp.), 4 Diamonds, Emerald, Large Shield +1, 50 Arrows +1, 10 Arrows of Dispelling and 10 Arrows of Ice.
1st Floor:
Burglar the palace before attending Sarevok's coronation since you'll then be teleported out of the palace. When you're ready (i.e. Haste, protection spells, etc…) come in the main room with your party and the ceremony begins. Sarevok soon decides to take control over the Flaming Fist and to start a war with Amn once he's elected Grand Duke. At this point, 6 Noblemen change into Greater Dopplegangers and you'll have to fight them before they will the dukes. Should be a piece of cake. Belt then thanks you and you get the chance to show him Sarevok's diary. Sarevok becomes angry at this point and decides to kill the dukes himself. You best bet at this point is to summon some monsters to hold him back while targeting him with missile weapons. When he gets low on HPs a mage named Winski Perorate comes to his rescue and teleports him elsewhere. Belt then uses his divination ability to discover that he went to the Thieves' Guild and takes you there without even thanking you (see Eastern part of BG for more details). Prepare well as the final fight is near!
2nd Floor:
Chests: You'll find about 750 gp. in the chests and a Wand of Lightning. Be careful as the guards will be summoned.
3rd Floor:
Chests: There are 2 Flaming Fist Mercenaries on this floor and your best bet is to charm them so that you can loot the chests without having the whole garrison on your back! Here's a list of the treasures you'll find: 2964 gp., 2 Diamonds, Ruby Ring, 20 Arrows +1, Oil of Speed, Potion of Heroism, Potion of Cloud Giant Strength, Bastard Sword +1, Splint Mail +1, 2 Wands of Sleep, Fire Opal Ring, Bloodstone Amulet and the following scrolls: Agannazar's Scorcher, Fireball, Chill Touch, Horror, Color Spray, Haste, Slow, Clairvoyance, Ghost Armor, Protection from Normal Missiles and 2 cursed protection scrolls.
F- FLAMING FISTS PATROL AREA:
You should avoid this area as much as possible, else you'll get arrested and you'll be brought to Angelo at the Flaming Fist Castle where you'll be put in prison. Not a very nice scenario, is it? Also don't fight any soldiers or you'll lose a lot of reputation.
