You will need to pass through this small cave system in order to reach Gamaz as he flees your pursuit. It's mostly home to a number of caged animals.
1- GOBLIN CAMP:
Why goblins are conspiring with the Dark Moon is a question left unanswered. The enemies here - a few gibberlings, goblins and wolves - are no match for you.
2- SPIDER CAGES:
There are a few Giant Spiders and goblins to kill at the next clearing.
3- RIDDLE CAGES:
You'll find two caged men here, Jasper and Bassano. They will explain that opening the wrong cage will kill them, while opening the right one will set them free. The catch is that one of them will be forced to lie about any question you ask, and you can only ask one question.
After testing, it seems that usually the person you speak to first is lying, so try to unlock its opposite instead (you will need a Thief to do so). There doesn't appear to be any immediate reward for rescuing the two, but Bassano will be revealed to be a Dark Moon spy, and he will sneak-attack you after you come back from dealing with Gamaz - he drops a Dagger +1 and Leather Armor +1.
4- SUMMIT:
Finally, you will reach Gamaz. Yet more verbal sparring will commence, but no matter what you say you will always have to fight him and his minions. The Initiates are not very tough, and many will go down quickly, but Gamaz will cast Mirror Image on himself as the fight begins, which makes him hard to hit. The most effective way to take down his protection is to use a Magic Missile or two.
When Gamaz is near death, he will have one final monologue before passing on. Be sure to grab the 1000 gold from his body, as well as the Glimmering Bands, a pair of gloves for Rasaad that give him +2 THAC0.
