This part of the Cloakwood forest is close to its edge, but it is dangerous nonetheless. In other words, it is a hunter's dream. There are a lot of beasts and monsters around, so watch out. There is also an unusual number of spiders in this side of the forest, so you should always have some antidotes at hand.
1- TASLOI:
This is the band of Tasloi who stole Old Gurke's Cloak of Non-Detection. The fight is easy and once it's done return the cloak to Old Gurke at the Jovial Juggler in Beregost. He lets you keep it and you also get 300 Exp.
2- ALDETH SASHENSTAR:
Aldeth is a rich businessman from the city of Baldur's Gate, where he is one of the owners of the Merchant League. Every year, he organizes hunting trips with his friends to this part of the forest. Unfortunately, this year is a bit different from the previous ones. Druids have been threatening their lives and even killed Elban, one of Aldeth's closest friends. Aldeth is scared and asks for your protection. If you accept, Seniyad and 3 other druids arrive and tell you how Aldeth and his friends have slain a druid in cold blood and that he has to pay for it. Aldeth says that this is false and you have to side with one of the parties involved. NOTE: the way you handle this quest determines what quest you get in Baldur's Gate later in the game.
Side with Aldeth: If you side with Aldeth, Seniyad and his druids immediately attack you. The fight is easy and you get 4360 Exp. for killing the druids and a Ring of Animal Friendship. Aldeth thanks you for protecting him and you get a further 2000 Exp. and a Potion of Heroism from him. He also tells you to meet him at the Merchant League if you ever come to travel to Baldur's Gate. The Merchant League is located in the Flaming Fist District in Baldur's Gate. There, Aldeth gives you another quest and the chance to get the Bastard Sword "Kondar"(+1, +3 vs. Shapeshifters).
Side with Seniyad: If you side with Seniyad you'll have to kill Aldeth. He is worth 650 Exp. and he has a good loot on him: 1240 gp., Diamond, Potion of Heroism and the Bastard Sword "Kondar"(+1, +3 vs. Shapeshifters). Seniyad thanks you for your assistance and you get a further 2000 Exp. He also gives you some information on the Cloakwood forest like the presence of the Shadow Druids and how to get to the Iron Throne Mines. If you choose this path, you'll have to fight Aldeth's brother, Dabron, later in Baldur's Gate. He will be in the Market Place District in Baldur's Gate and has such things as the Heavy Crossbow of Accuracy.
Get 2 Bastard Swords "Kondar": This is obviously an error in the game but it is actually possible to get 2 Bastard Swords "Kondar". To do so, first you'll have to pickpocket Aldeth till you get it. Then help him against the druids and he'll tell you to meet him at the Merchant League in Baldur's Gate. When you get there, accept his quest and the reward will be the Bastard Sword "Kondar". That way, you'll have 2 of them!
3- CABIN:
There is a descent loot in the chest: 395 gp., Elixir of Health, Potion of Invulnerability, 2 Arrows of Fire, 2 Arrows of Ice and a Rainbow Obsidian Necklace. NOTE: you may not rest in the cabin.
4- CORAN:
Coran (CG, Elf Male, Fighter/Thief) is an adventurer from the city of Baldur's Gate. He wishes to return there soon, but first he asks for your assistance to hunt some Wyverns who have been plaguing the caravan routes in the past few months. It appears that Governor Kelddath of Beregost offers no less than 2000 gp. for the head of such beast. Should you accept, know that the Wyvern's Cave can be found in the Cloakwood North area. Also, Coran is a very good archer since he is a Master of the bow and that he has a Dexterity of 20. He is also very good in stealth.
