Overview
1 - Goodsprings
Please refer to our
Goodsprings section for more information.
2 - Goodsprings Cemetery
This is the cemetery where you were shot and robbed at the start of the game. If you visit your grave here, then you'll find some
Distinctive Cigarette Butts on the ground, which you might be able to use later in the game. You can also loot a few things from the cemetery, including a
Snow Globe - Goodsprings from on top of one of the northern graves (see the
Snow Globes section for more information), and some random guns, ammunition, and / or caps from inside the other graves, provided you have a
Shovel so you can dig them up.
3 - Yangtze Memorial
You'll find a few things to loot at the memorial: three burial mounds on the southern side, one of which will probably contain something useful (provided you have a
Shovel so you can dig it up); a duffle bag (at the base of the warning sign to the east) containing some random loot; a hollowed-out rock (with a peace sign painted on it) containing even more random loot; and an abandoned shack just to the north, inside of which you'll find a copy of
Lad's Life (on the floor in front of the toilet), a
Machete (on the counter), a reloading bench, and more.
4 - The Devil's Gullet
Inside this big hole in the ground you'll find three ammunition boxes, a
Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Cap (in an open crate), and some
Hydra (in a bathtub).
5 - Goodsprings Cave
You'll encounter some coyotes inside and outside this cave, but because of a quirk in the game, they'll probably spend much more time fleeing than attacking, making the battles against them pretty easy. Inside the cave near the front, you'll find a skeleton on the ground with some
Cateye next to it. In the back of the cave, you'll find three corpses and a duffle bag, from which you'll be able to loot some random items plus a copy of
Lad's Life and a pair of
Laser Pistols. Outside the cave, just to the right (south), you'll find a hollowed-out rock with some random loot inside.
6 - Goodsprings Source
You won't find much at this location, just some water valves (where you'll be able to drink unradiated water and slowly regain your health) and some campfires. However, somewhere nearby you should run into a man named Barton Thorn. He'll tell you that his girlfriend is trapped by some geckos on the nearby ridge, and he'll ask you to save her. To reach the ridge, you'll need to climb up to a broken radio tower and then follow the trail to the northwest. Along the way you'll get attacked by several geckos, including some that will sneak up behind you.
When you reach the top of the ridge, you won't find a girl, but you will find a small camp containing an ammunition box (with a
10mm Pistol and lots of
10mm Rounds inside), a refrigerator, a bed (that you can sleep on), and more. Just be careful when exploring the camp, because you'll also find three bear traps there. After looting what you want (and possibly sleeping in the bed to regain your health), when you return back down the mountain, you'll meet Thorn again. He'll brag that he tricked you so you'd clear the way to the camp for him, and then he'll attack. Thorn probably won't drop anything noteworthy when he dies.
Note: If you have the Wild Wasteland perk, then you'll also discover four red balls, five aces, and the corpse of a man named Johnny in the camp. This is apparently a reference to Johnny "Five Aces" from the abandoned game The Zybourne Clock. If you don't have the perk, then you'll find a regular prospector's corpse in the camp instead.
7 - Jean Sky Diving
Outside the building here, you'll encounter a couple of powder gangers. Inside the building, you'll find a
Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Cap (on the table), a key (also on the table), a
Weapon Repair Kit (on the floor), and some lockers. One of the lockers will have an "average" lock, which you'll be able to bypass with the key. Inside that locker you'll find some decent but random loot. Inside another locker you'll find
Boxing Gloves.
8 - Powder Ganger Camp West
At this camp you'll encounter some powder gangers, and you'll find a campfire, a bed, some ammunition boxes, an explosives crate, and an armor crate. You might also have to deal with a few
Powder Charges set up on the northern side of the camp.
Slightly to the southeast of the camp, you can wade through an irradiated drainage pool to pick up a
Doctor's Bag,
Fixer, and a copy of
La Fantoma. To reach the pool, just follow the paved road south to a billboard, and then follow a drainage ditch east to the pool.
9 - Lone Wolf Radio
Inside the camper here, you'll find a
Wasteland Survival Guide and a
Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Cap on the floor next to the mattress.
10 - NCR Correctional Facility
Please refer to our
NCR Correctional Facility section for more information.
11 - Powder Ganger Camp North
You'll encounter three powder gangers at this camp. As you approach the camp, you'll have to deal with a bunch of
Powder Charges at the two entrances. Inside the camp, you'll find an explosives crate, a campfire, and two beds.
12 - Hidden Valley
Please refer to our
Hidden Valley section for more information.
13 - Sloan
Please refer to our
Sloan section for more information.
14 - Quarry Junction
15 - Great Khan Encampment
16 - Makeshift Great Khan Camp
You won't find anything here other than a campfire and several
Empty Whiskey Bottles.
17 - Tribal Village
At this location you'll discover lots of dead bodies (including great khans, fiends, and burned villagers) being guarded by cazadors. On the dead fiends, you'll find a couple of
Fire Axes, and inside the tents you'll find a first aid box and an armor case. You'll also find some
Psycho and
Jet on the ground near the corpses. Up in the mountains just to the south of the village, you'll stumble across Chance's grave. Inside the grave, you'll find
Chance's Knife.
Note: The village and the grave are references to the "Fallout: New Vegas: All Roads" graphic novel, which was included in the Collector's Edition of the game.
18 - Bonnie Springs
You'll encounter several Viper gang members in the abandoned town here. After the battle when you loot their corpses, you'll find
Metal Armor, Reinforced,
Combat Armor, a
Trail Carbine,
Love and Hate, and more. You can also pick up a pair of
Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Caps from one of the open Sunset Sarsaparilla crates near the buildings.
19 - Spring Mt. Ranch State Park
You won't find much of anything at this location, but nearby to the east you should encounter herds of bighorners.
20 - Red Rock Canyon
21 - Chance's Map
22 - Nopah Cave
23 - Vault 19
Please refer to our
Vault 19 section for more information.
24 - Whittaker Farmstead
Inside the ranch house here you'll encounter a handful of powder gangers. They'll drop some basic loot, plus lots of Dynamite, and killing them won't cause you to gain any infamy. Also in the house you'll find a note that references
Boulder City (on the table in the foyer) and copy of
Future Weapons Today (on the shelf in the kitchen). Near the farmstead to the west you can loot a pair of graves.
25 - Hunter's Farm
Inside the farmhouse, you can pick up two
Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Caps from the kitchen counter. Outside the farmhouse, you'll sometimes encounter powder gangers, fire geckos, deathclaws, or some combination of the three (which usually goes badly for the powder gangers).
26 - Samson Rock Crushing Plant
You'll find lots of abandoned buildings and machinery here, but nothing that you can use.
27 - The Basincreek Building
You'll encounter a handful of radroaches and giant ants inside the building. You'll also find a copy of
True Police Stories (in an end table in the reception area), an amusing "Help Me!" note (on the floor in front of the locked office), a copy of
Tales of Chivalrie (in a shelf in the locked office), and some
Hydra (in one of the bathroom stalls).
Note: If you're patient, then you can use the debris in the reception area to jump up to the second floor. However, that floor was never finished, and you won't find much up there.
28 - Vault 3
29 - Poseidon Gas Station
30 - South Vegas Ruins East Entrance
31 - New Vegas Steel
32 - West Pump Building
33 - Sulfur Cave
The sulfur cave provides a back entrance into
Vault 19. Please refer to our
Vault 19 section for more information.
Note: This location won't show up on your world map.
