Overview
The first time you enter the Strip, you'll be approached by Victor, who will give you the quest
The House Always Wins.
1 - Mister Holdout
Mister Holdout will sell you several "holdout" weapons that you can sneak into casinos. This list includes
Silenced .22 Pistols,
Spiked Knuckles, and
Switchblades. If your Sneak skill is at least 50, then you'll be able to sneak slightly larger weapons into casinos, including
Frag Grenades,
10mm Pistols, and
Police Batons, and Holdout won't be as important to you. If you gain too much fame on the Strip, then Holdout will refuse to deal with you.
2 - Emily Ortal
Emily should appear here when you leave the
Lucky 38 Casino (Exit C), but only after you've completed the quest
Ring-a-Ding-Ding. She'll give you the quest
The Moon Comes over the Tower.
3 - Billy Knight
Billy Knight is a comedian. He's involved in the quest
Talent Pool.
4 - Magazine Vending Machines
At these three locations you'll find a trio of magazine vending machines. Each vending machine will give you a free random magazine.
5 - Monorail Station
You'll be able to use the monorail to travel to
Camp McCarran (assuming the NCR approves of you).
6 - Walter Phebus
Somewhere around here you should run into Walter Phebus and his wife Ethel. Walter will give you the quest
Pheeble Will.
7 - NCR Embassy
Inside the embassy you'll meet Liza O'Malley, Captain Marie Pappas, Private Jake Erwin, and Ambassador Dennis Crocker. Only Crocker has much of a role in the game. He's involved in the quests
Things That Go Boom and
Kings' Gambit. You can also play Caravan with Crocker and Erwin, and you can hack into Crocker's and O'Malley's terminals.
Besides meeting people, you'll also find a few note items in the embassy: Strip Letter 9 (on a table in the dining hall), Strip Letter 11 (on a table in the barracks), Ambassador Phillip Granger's Final Report (on a desk in an office), and Ambassador Susanna Edith's Final Report (on a shelf in Crocker's office).
8 - NCR Military Police HQ
The headquarters building consists mostly of a prison and a locked storage room:
- Prison. Inside the prison you'll find a pair of locked holding cells and Strip Letter 10 (on a table). To enter the cells, you'll need to pick up the
NCR Embassy Cell Key from the "average" locked desk in the reception area. Inside the cells you'll meet a gambler and a traveler, but neither one will say to much to you.
- Storage Room. To enter the storage room, you'll need to steal the key from Captain Pappas in the embassy (#7), or you'll need to pick the "hard" lock on the door. Inside, you'll find four ammunition boxes, a first aid box, several weapons (including
Cattle Prods, a
Combat Knife, and a
10mm Pistol), and a set of
NCR Trooper Armor.
9 - Michael Angelo's Workshop
Inside the workshop you'll meet Michael Angelo (aka Sheldon Weintraub, a former resident of
Vault 21 and Sarah's brother). When you talk to him, you'll be given a choice for how to proceed: you can pretend to be a messenger from Mr. House and extort Michael for 300 caps, or you can accept the quest
Classic Inspiration. Also in the workshop you'll meet Kate, Michael's assistant, and you'll find
Schematics - Billboard. The schematics sound interesting, but they don't actually do anything (they'll just go into the miscellaneous section of your inventory).
Exits:
- Gate to
Freeside.
- Internal gates. You'll need to use these gates to move between the three map areas that make up the Strip.
- Entrance to the
Lucky 38 Casino. You'll need to talk to Victor (standing in front of the entrance) to be allowed inside. The first time you exit the casino, an NCR trooper will run up to you with a message from Ambassador Crocker (#7), and you'll also gain some fame on the Strip.
- Entrance to the
Gomorrah Casino.
- Entrance to the
Tops Casino.
- Entrance to the
Ultra-Luxe Casino.
- Entrance to
Vault 21 (hotel and gift shop).
